As is tradition with Big Time Gaming’s Megaways slots, the symbols can vary in size, the game area has 6 reels but effectively between 2 and 7 rows. To win, you just need to land matching symbols on adjacent reels, going from the leftmost reel to the right. This highly volatile slot’s low-pay symbols are the suited 9’s through Ace and Landing a 6-of-a-kind will win you up to 6x the bet.
The high-pay symbols are various gems and in ascending order of value, these pretty stone symbols are green, blue, red and purple. If you land a winning combination made up of 5 of the purple ones, you’ll win 8x the bet! And of course, one of the best aspects of a Megaways slot is the Reactions, whereby the symbols that make up a winning combination disappear so that more symbols can drop, thereby giving you more chances to win!
Above the main game area, there are 4 carts that roll in from the right of the screen and park above reels 2-5. Aside from helping to increase your chances of hitting a winning combo, this is also where you’ll see the game’s Wilds, which substitute for all pay symbols. This reel, or rather track, is also no exception to the Reactions function.
If you manage to land 4 Gold Scatter symbols (G.O.L.D), you’ll be transported to the Bonus Round, where you’ll start off with 12 free spins! As the carts are no longer present, Wilds can now land anywhere on the grid. Also, where the carts once ran, you’ve now got a Coin Dozer, which can push four different kinds of coins onto the game area.
There’s the Wild Coin, which adds a Multiplier of up to 5x to the reel. The Free Spins Multiplier Coin increases the cumulative Multiplier to the right of the grid by +1. The +4 Coin will give you 4 extra free spins and the Repeating Symbol Coin will add a random pay symbol to the grid that’ll count as multiple instances of that same symbol. Also, every Scatter symbol you land gives you an extra 4 free spins.
Whenever you win 100x the stake, you’ll be given the choice to either collect your win or trade it for access to the Free Spins round. If, however, you only win between 25x and 100x the stake, again, you can collect, or you can choose to gamble your win for a chance to enter the Free Spins round. Just spin the wheel and hope you land on green. Land on red, though, and you’ll be returned to the Base game minus your win.
Players outside the UK should be able to buy immediate access to the Free Spins Bonus round. Like with the above mentioned Win Exchange, it’ll cost you 100x the stake.
There’s an extra reel above the main game area and carts carrying extra symbols will roll in from the right-hand side, increasing your chances of hitting winning combinations. It’s only on these carts that you’ll see any Wilds, too.
During 12 free spins, watch as the Coin Dozer pushes a variety of coins onto the grid: Wild Coins carrying Multipliers, Coins that increase the Cumulative Multiplier, Coins that grant further free spins, and Coins that’ll convert pay symbols.
Win 100x the bet or more and you can decide to keep the win or trade it in for immediate access to the Megadozer Free Spins round. Alternatively, if you only win between 25x and 100x the stake, you can gamble your win for a chance to activate the Free Spins round.
When I read that Big Time Gaming was releasing a slot named Bonanza Falls, I assumed we’d be in for some gun-toting fun with some cowboys thrown into the mix. It wasn’t to be, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Despite my initial frown, this slot soon put a smile back on my face!
The setting is quite relaxing with the green woodland landscape and the soothing sound of waterfalls in the background. However, once you start spinning, that tranquillity is shattered by the intermittent sound of a banjo tune. You might love it but it wasn't my favourite!
The Base game did feel like a bit of a battle despite the Megaways Mechanic and subsequent Reactions. That said, the Coin Dozer and Cumulative Multiplier in the bonus round are entertaining enough, as are the varying functions of the coins that land.
Personally, I’m a fan of Megaways slots as you always seem to be hitting something but all this action does come with high volatility. The RTP is 96.51%, and that seemed fair enough. You’ve also got up to 117,649 win ways and a very generous max win of 93,540x, so you could be onto a winner.
The presentation in Bonanza Falls isn't the best but it does enough of a job to keep you entertained while you play—although I'm not sure who signed off on that banjo! The gameplay gets progressively better as you reach the bonus, but the slot will mainly be remebered for its payout potential.
