The Wizard of Oz Review
In 1939, the world was enhanced by the magical release of The Wizard of Oz. This film starred Judy Garland as Dorothy who is a girl trapped in the wonderful land of Oz and she must try to return home whilst stopping an evil Wicked Witch.
Despite being almost 100 years old, this film is still a classic and regarded as one of the finest fantasy films in history. Ultimately, this has led to many homages and spin-off games such as SG Digital's The Wizard of Oz.
As a grid slot playing on 5-reels, this branded slot features three different bonus games including free spins, multiplier trails and a pick and click mini-game leading to epic wins of up to 5,000x the stake.
Design
Thankfully, the slot stays faithful to the film and does it in a tasteful way. On the screen, there are various beautiful poppies, the yellow brick road and Emerald City which all stand out and look stunning.
All the familiar faces from the slot return in the form of Dorothy (Judy Garland), Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), Tin Man (Jack Haley), Glinda (Billie Burke) and The Wicked Witch (Margaret Hamilton).
Whilst the music is quite whimsical and refreshing to listen to, the lack of "Follow the Yellow Brick Road/You're Off to See the Wizard" even in instrumental form is noticeable and disappointing that it's not there.
Gameplay
In the base game, there isn't anything special or exciting going on but this changes when a feature is triggered. There are three different bonus games and each is different enough to make the game quite thrilling at times.
The spin button and the bet level button can be found to the right of the reels. All the gameplay instructions can be found in a drop-down menu at the bottom side of the screen.
Win Potential
Unfortunately, the win potential for this slot isn't anything spectacular. Firstly, there is a low RTP of 86.99% which is ridiculous for an online slot.
Secondly, the maximum win for this medium volatility slot is only 5,000x the stake which is quite average and nothing special.
Our Verdict
The Wizard of Oz is a faithful branded slot that contains almost all the elements from the film that people love. However, there are some things missing such as songs from the film as well as a decent RTP.
Despite all of this, The Wizard of Oz is still a fun game to play that is absolutely bursting with features and charm that will take you to Emerald City.
