The Mafiosi Review
Set against the backdrop of New York City during the 1920s prohibition era, The Mafiosi is a crime slot that follows different clans fighting for a piece of the action. Despite this, it's Don Giovanni, the 11th godfather of the L’Amiranta family, that has the lead in this race. During this slot, you work alongside this family to deliver the booze and hope to secure a nice profit whilst you do so.
Playing on 5-reels with 243 ways to win, The Mafiosi is a high volatility slot that can award wins of 3,957x stake. So join the L’Amiranta and see if you have what it takes to be part of the family.
Design
The Mafiosi takes place within Don Giovanni's house with the focus of the slot being in his study. Adorned with murder and dark colours, the setting of the study sees various fireplaces and statues highlighting the wealth of this family. Naturally, Don Giovanni is sat just underneath the reels and looking at the player questionably. He looks similar to Don Corleone from The Godfather but Peter & Sons own twist to the slot.
All of the reels feature symbols relating to the L'Amiranta family such as various henchmen and family members. Amazingly, all of the symbols animate on the reels and it adds a huge amount of detail to the slot.
In terms of music, there is a knock-off crime theme that sounds similar to The Godfather theme. Ultimately, it all fits in well to create an expected atmosphere from a crime slot. Noises such as tyres screening and gunshots can be heard in the background. The ambient sounds are perhaps a little too loud but they add suspense to the slot.
Gameplay
There's nothing complicated or scary about this slot, as there are only 5-reels to keep an eye on. The free spins rounds are all self-explanatory as you don't need to learn anything extra.
To the far right of the reels, you'll notice a pink button which is the spin button. Underneath this, you'll find the autospin and bet level to set for your game. Of course, further menus such as sound can be found to the bottom left of the reels.
Win Potential
The Mafiosi is a high volatility slot with a standard RTP of 96.01% which is just above the average. Unfortunately, the maximum win isn't anything special at a measly 3,957x stake which can be obtained through the multipliers.
Our Verdict
The entire premise of this slot is hilarious and looks to be something special - but disappoints with the win potential. Like most Peter & Sons slots, the design is unique to their style and looks incredible. Similarly, the features are engaging and definitely provide assistance throughout the slot but the payout is unforgivable.
If you love Peter & Sons unique style, then you should definitely check out The Mafiosi slot. However, for those of you wanting a crime slot with a bigger payout, then try out Bonnie & Clyde or Empty the Bank instead.
