Scarab Kingdom Review
See the real beauty of Ancient Egypt in Just For The Win's Scarab Kingdom. Join Pharaoh and Cleopatra in their private sanctuary as they uncover the treasures of Egypt. Scarab Kingdom plays on 5-reels with 30 paylines in this high volatility Egyptian slot.
Throughout your gameplay, you'll notice scarab scatters, Wild Scrolls, Cleo's Bonus and Pharaoh's Free Spins that'll ultimately lead you to wins of up to 5,000x your stake.
The design of Scarab Kingdom is a strange one as the background of the reels is intricately designed but a little lifeless due to no animations. In the background, you'll notice temples, trees along with a sphinx statute next to a little river path. It all looks creatively designed and the colours work well - but it just feels a little barren.
In the middle of the screen, you'll notice the reels themselves adorned with a regal pattern relating to scarabs. The colours are vibrant and stand out making it easy to see the symbols on the reels. Thankfully, the design of all the symbols is incredibly detailed with Pharaoh and Cleopatra's models look like something out of a graphic novel.
As for the music, you can expect woodwind instruments mixed with drums and guitars to create pertaining to the Egyptian theme. There are various magical sounds and symbols throughout the slot to give it a more mythical theme which definitely works for this slot. Whilst the design of this slot isn't anything spectacular, it's polished and effective in delivering what it wants to.
Scarab Kingdom has pretty standard gameplay for online slots as you have 5-reels with 30 different paylines. Throughout the slot, you will set your bet and spin to win. The biggest difference comes from the bonus bar at the top of the reels that you build up with every scarab scatters. Ultimately, there aren't a huge amount of features and the ones that are here are easy to pick up.
Just to the right of the reels, you'll notice the spin button, autospin and bet level. At the top of these buttons, you'll find an additional menu that has a variety of options to help you throughout such as sound settings or the paytable.
The RTP of Scarab Kingdom is at a decent 96.13% which is just above the average standard of 96%. Generally, we suggest playing slots with an RTP of 96% and above - unless there's a progressive jackpot attached to it. This slot also has a high volatility level which means that you'll need to have the bankroll to sustain yourself throughout as high volatility slots tend to pay out less frequent but big when they do!
To obtain the biggest win of up to 5,000x your stake, you'll need to trigger Cleo's Bonus and select the top prize of 5,000x your stake. On demo mode, we found that it took us between 150 to 200 spins to trigger the bonus and we actually managed to get the biggest win - so it's possible but you'll need to be patient. So, whilst the win potential of this slot isn't earth-shattering, it's decent enough to warrant spins if you enjoy Egyptian slots.
Scarab Kingdom feels different to the rest of the Egyptian slots available out there, but it's sadly not the best one we've ever played. The gameplay is entertaining enough with features such as scarab scatters and the Wild Scroll, but Cleo's Bonus should definitely have a bigger payout consider how long it takes to get there.
If the maximum payout on Cleo's Bonus was 10,000x your stake or above, then it would make for more excitement once you finally get there. Of course, 5,000x your stake isn't a ridiculously low amount but feels like it due to the high volatility level.
That being said, the mini-game does retain some thrills and you'll find yourself hypnotised to the screen when the Wild Scrolls appear. Scarab Kingdom is an amusing slot that'll undoubtedly provide joy, so be sure to check it out if you love high volatility slots mixed with Ancient Egypt.
