This is a good-looking slot with an unusual theme and some truly stunning imagery! I was a little taken aback when I realised that this new title from Pragmatic Play is about as basic a slot as you’ll find with only 5 reels, 5 paylines and no free spins feature. But wait! That’s not quite the case. In fact, Himalayan Wild is hiding quite a lot under its seemingly simple facade.
For one, the Free Respins feature is effectively a free spins round. Secondly, there’s a chance to win 3 different jackpots. Lastly, this game has a top prize of 10,000x. Suddenly, Himalayan Wild doesn’t seem so basic after all.
With 5 reels, 3 rows and a very minimal 5 paylines, Himalayan Wild comes across as a very basic slot. The paylines are adjustable, which may be helpful to some players, but doesn’t exactly add any excitement! However, what does make this slot more interesting is the Free Respins feature and the Minor, Major and Mega jackpots up for grabs, along with a max win of 10,000x.
There are 9 regular-paying symbols, starting with the usual letters and moving up to the impressive beasts found in the mountains, including a bear, eagle and wolf.
You make winning paylines by matching symbols across the reels, left to right, but what you really want to do is activate the Free Respins feature as quickly as possible, as that’s where the biggest prizes are.

It didn’t actually take me too long to find a winning combo with a wild but no Bonus symbol, and once I was in the feature I managed to trigger a further 3 respins by landing a Money symbol (which is the Bonus symbol in this feature). It sounds quite complicated, but you get the hang of it after a while.
I had a great time during this round and even managed to bag myself the Minor jackpot, which is 30x your stake. If I’d been playing with more than £1, that could have been a huge win! But it goes to show that these jackpots are there to be won.

Himalayan Wild is quite a confusing slot, visually. The pink and purple backdrop of a snowy mountain range and the beautifully animated symbols of the wildlife are all in keeping with the Himalayan theme of the game. However, with brightly coloured payline indicators and the jackpots lit up above the reels in bold colours and fonts, the slot starts to resemble a typical Vegas-style game. It's these two contrasting colour schemes and vibes that make this game a little bit confusing to the eye.
Having said that, overall, this is a very striking slot and you'll remember it for a long time to come.
I enjoyed Himalayan Wild more than I thought I would. The design is odd but, ultimately, it's a very visually pleasing game. The epic soundtrack in the background also helps make this game feel rather grand, and the fact that I hit the Minor jackpot obviously means I'm slightly biased.
