Apparently, you're about to join an elite black ops unit in a search to uncover great prizes in the darkness. These hostile territories are due to be infiltrated with your help, and it's going to be funded by your balance. Pull off this daring mission and you could be in for a big reward.
In the base game, you can land wins in 35 ways, and the highest regular paying symbol is worth up to 20x. The wild symbols will substitute for regular symbols and a group of 5 of these will also give you a 30x payout.
If the ghost vision symbol lands, it will activate the Switchspins feature. When this happens, some symbols are selected for replacement, and any instances of this symbol that land during the next spin will be turned into wilds. Players outside the UK can guarantee a spin with this all taking place for 50x.
If you uncover 3 or 4 free spins symbols, you'll pick up 10 free spins and enjoy a little extra benefit from being in the bonus area. The basic game gives you an increased chance of landing the ghost vision symbols, and the advanced version will save the selected symbol types for conversion to give you more wild symbols when a switch takes place. Direct entry will cost players 100x or 200x, and they must be outside the UK to choose these options.
Whenever a Ghost Vision symbol lands, you'll see a panel of symbols at the top begin to activate. Any number of these symbols can be chosen, and then another spin takes place. Any instances of those specific symbols that were selected will now be turned into wild symbols and potential wins get calculated.
3 or 4 FS symbols will take you off to play a special mission where you don't need to pay for the privilege. You get 10 free spins and the first game will give you an increased chance of triggering the Switchspins, but the second version will progressively collect the special symbols, so each time a Switchspin takes place, the chances are even greater of hitting a large payout.
Having the option to take a spin with a guaranteed ghost symbol may seem like a good idea, but when it's priced at 50x, I feel like that's too much of a gamble. Quite often, you only get one or two symbol types selected for conversion, and there's no guarantee that I will pick up any large wins. I regularly saw payouts worth around 10x from this feature. As you know, you can buy directly into the bonus games as well if you wish and perhaps in that area, you can look forward to some larger rewards. But who knows how long you would need to play this game to see a 10,000x prize.
Ghost Vision seems to refer to the night vision goggles worn by these special ops troops, and Hacksaw has chosen to give them skull masks as well to make it all feel more eerie and authentic. As is the norm, an example of the main characters is placed to the side of the reels, and another one is dangling from a rope in the background. Everything has a night-vision green hue and the soundtrack offers a little energy while the sound effects connect with the military activity taking place. To top things off, you also get a nice added touch on the game area where you can move the cursor around and watch a laser follow it.
Swapping regular symbols for wild symbols in Ghost Vision is a nice idea, but it isn't the most exciting feature that a slot can offer. Quite often, the wins were very small and even in the bonus games, it was hard to see my balance benefit greatly. There are obviously some big wins hiding in here, but there may not be enough on offer to keep you waiting around long enough to find them. It's a reasonable effort with a lot of room for improvement.
