It is a slot built on the idea that players enjoy progressing through various levels and this will inevitably keep them hitting the spin button for longer. While there is some truth to this idea, many players won't have the time to sit there and try to ‘complete’ this game.
It is a fun way to approach a slot production and it helps to skirt the border between slots and video games, but does Gerard’s Gambit pull it off?
On the design front, you can't really fault this game. High-quality imagery, animation and various depictions of the four locations are all extremely well crafted. The adventure looks fantastic on all screens including mobiles and the soundtrack will accompany you wherever you choose to play this game. It is a mysterious backing track featuring various drum beats and lots of strings.
It's a slot, but not as we know it. Other games have attempted to add a progressive storyline to their productions in the past and while some pull it off, others fade into obscurity.
There isn't a huge amount of variation between the different levels in Gerard's Gambit and so spending more time on this game is really a matter of aiming for bigger prizes rather than gaining any more value from the storyline or additional excitement from the features.
Given that half of this game is spent with both medium volatility and high volatility, a 3,000x max win isn't the most generous treasure we've ever uncovered. The RTP levels will vary but the top is 96.20%.
Did we like the concept? Yes. Did the game need 10 levels? Absolutely not. You could be there for hours trying to experience your third visit to Egypt and this is going to take its toll on your bankroll.
Everything about this game is unashamedly aimed at keeping you hitting that spin button for as long as possible and doesn't offer a huge amount of production value in the process.
