The battle area is 5x5 but despite the large grid, you still only have 15 paylines. Along these, you can pick up wins containing royal symbols that are worth up to 3x and pictures that pay up to 25x.
Wins start on the first reel on the left and make their way across to the right with a five of a kind being the highest payout. Wild symbols are fairly regular for the most part and will simply land as a single symbol that substitutes for other regular paying symbols.
Other wild symbols will surprise you with their expanding abilities and you might see this occur on reels 2, 3 or 4. As they land, they expand to fill the whole reel vertically and you'll see an additional multiplier join the battle. Multipliers are worth between 2x and 100x and this is applied to any winning combos that it helps to form.
The free spins bonus appears as you hit 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols. By doing so, you walk off with 10, 15 or 20 free spins, respectively. As you play for free, you can expect to see the expanding wild symbols fall on the reels as you did in the base game. However, when an expanding wild makes its way into the arena, it transforms the lowest high-paying symbol into the next value symbol and you pick up an additional free spin as well.

Thanks to the expanding multipliers, you could see some very attractive wins appearing during the base game. As you see the sword crashing down, you know you could be in for an extra boost to any wins that the wild symbol helps to create. I picked up a couple of payouts worth over 40x and I didn't think that was bad considering that I hadn't been spinning for very long at that point.
It took me a little while to get the free spins bonus into action but when it occurred, I was glad I’d made it. I walked away with over 200x from this part of the game. The volatility is very high and that would explain how I picked up a couple of big wins here and there but generally, things were quite slow. If everything aligns and these multipliers go into battle at the right moment, you could walk away with the 10,000x max win.
The 5x5 grid feels quite imposing and it's helped along nicely by the amphitheatre in the background that seems to be either engulfed in flames or someone's captured it during the sunset golden hour. Everything feels very raw and freshly crafted from cast iron with various symbols that pay tribute to the theme. A little animation emphasises some waving flags but apart from that, only the wild multiplier sword will change the static setup. The soundtrack is nice enough but I didn't feel like a lot of effort went into creating any standout moments.
It doesn't feel like it took Pragmatic Play long to pull all of the elements together as they had the visuals and mechanics ready to go – they’ve been used many, many times before in other slots they've created. However, the way it's presented with the crashing swords and wild multipliers appearing now and then does give it an exciting edge. Sometimes I feel that Pragmatic’s max wins are a little out of reach but with 100x multipliers, some players might be able to push their balance close to the 10,000x reward.
