Wild symbols can land on any reel and may have a multiplier figure worth between 2x and 100x attached to it. This figure is added to a global multiplier rather than transforming any payouts straight away.
The reason for this is that mystery symbols can land and convert into wild stacks that cover the entire reel. These also have multiplier values worth up to 100x and will also be taken off to the global multiplier meter. The figures are added together and are applied to your wins.
Two free spins bonuses are on offer but I have to admit, they are very similar and don't differ all that much from the base game.
The first is Rampage and this appears when you land three robot head symbols during the base game. Wild symbols will now remain on the grid when they land so you can use their powers for the rest of the bonus. You don't get any mystery symbols but at least the global multiplier is persistent until the end of the feature as well.
If you see three robot hand scatter symbols landing at the same time during the base game, you'll be whisked off to play 10 free spins with mystery bonus symbols back in play. In fact, you have an even better chance of landing these valuable icons. Once again, the global multiplier remains persistent.
To increase the chance of landing a bonus feature, you can pay double the standard bet amount and triple the likelihood of making your way out of the base game. With this option, you won't increase the regular pay table values.

I didn't see much love from the mystery symbols during the base game as they only landed once in about 50 spins. However, my second session witnessed their arrival with a higher frequency. I was able to pick up wins in excess of 35x when they dropped.
Heading into the bonus game should see your chances of landing better payouts become far more likely but I'm not sure how feasible the 12,500x max win is given the spins that I experienced. The volatility is very high, so I guess you never know when a crazy sequence of spins might deliver something spectacular.
Hacksaw and its partner studios refuse to produce drab and uninteresting slot designs and this blunt refusal continues with Crystal Robot. It's a futuristic backdrop which you would expect to see in a typical Armageddon-style sci-fi movie and the resident robots stand on either side of the reels to protect their interests.
There's something cute and space-age about the background beat but it comes to an annoying and abrupt pause each time a win occurs.
Slot veterans won't find anything new in Crystal Robot but a less experienced player might see this as a great introduction to wild stacks and multipliers. It does quite a basic job but it doesn't it well and with audiovisuals that put a smile on my face. I’d happily take it for another spin!
