I don’t know whether it was due to the game’s high volatility or if I was just having a bad day, but it took me forever to get into the free spins round. Eventually, I landed 4 scatter and made my way into the bonus game with 12 free spins.
Pragmatic claims that there are special reels in play during free spins, but I couldn’t see any real difference apart from a snowy frosting on the symbols. There aren’t any extra symbols, but the multipliers continue to increase until the end of the round, rather than the end of the spin, which is a great touch.

If there's one word to describe this game it's pretty. This is a sparkling, dazzling, colourful affair, and if you like your gem slots, Crystal Caverns Megaways will most probably tickle your fancy. I particularly like the blue crystal background that adds a fantastic mythical atmosphere.
The gems are colourful and vibrant, but ultimately, the game board is a little bit boring. There are no characters in this game, so all you're looking at is just a bunch of moving crystals and letters with the occasional wild or scatter thrown in.
I feel like Pragmatic could have worked a little bit harder on the design.
I have mixed feelings about Crystal Caverns Megaways! It's quite a visually pleasing slot, but the gameplay is a little dull and, ultimately, all you're doing is waiting to get into the free spins round – it doesn't differ from the base game either.
