Thanks to the exploding tumbling symbols, the 5x4 grid can potentially expand to 5x7! There’s also up 16,807 win ways. To win, starting from the leftmost reel, players just need to land matching symbols on adjacent reels.
The card suits are the low pays. All 4 are worth the same, with a 5-of-a-kind worth 0.25x the bet. The high pays, featuring Max, Dr. Kriegsmann and a host of weapons, can be worth up to 5x the stake. The game’s font seems to have been inspired by those of 1950’s comics - something I’m quite partial to! The aesthetic concept of driving along a highway is very similar to past instalments. That said, the graphics have been upgraded, and the background has changed - this time, we’re driving along a highway at night, with a castle and a giant robot looming in the background.
The main character seems to be a cross between Mad Max and The Punisher, possibly with a bit of zorro thrown in there, too. The protagonist is called Maximillion ‘Max’.
In free spins, the background gets darker and you move closer to the aforementioned robot and the castle. That in conjunction with the dramatic operatic music really pulls you into the action.
If you play this game on mobile, the presentation is still pretty much perfect; however, the sound isn’t quite as immersive. You can’t really make out the constantly beating kick drum, which adds a lot of fun tension when played on larger devices.
The game features the tumble mechanic and has exploding symbols. Because of these, expanding the game area to its max (5x7) isn’t outside the realms of possibility. The Big Wilds and Second Chance function are both great additions to an already highly engaging base game.
The bonus round is refreshingly quite different to the base - players outside the UK can buy the 3-scatter Free Spins for 75x the bet. The 5-scatter version costs 375x. You’ve got instant cash symbols and a host of special symbols that often have ‘turbo’ versions, which basically means they trigger on each spin. All in all, the game’s fun to play, regardless of whether you’re in the base game or Free Spins.
The game is highly volatile, and it definitely felt that way at times, as I often found myself spinning without hitting anything. As mentioned earlier, though, once you hit a winning combo, you can really see your balance increase thanks to the tumbles and the expanding game area—up to 16,807 win ways! The RTP of 96.06% is decent enough, but it’s the max win of 40,000x that sets it apart from not just its predecessors but many other similar slots. With all the features available in Free Spins, managing to reach that figure doesn’t feel like a complete pipe dream, either.
Cash Truck 3 Turbo is an big improvement on the first game but less so on the second, as the only real differences seem to be the location and the increased max win. That said, all 4 Cash Truck instalments have been great games. The audiovisual presentation is top notch, the base game is fun and engaging, and the free spins round should give you some great chances to land big wins.
