Cash in Transit

Not a fan of base games? Not a problem! Cash in Transit doesn't like them either and all it really wants is to send you off to play a fabulous bonus game. This bonus may or may not have been inspired by a certain locomotive full of money.

As you do your best to snatch bundles of cash from this van, you'll come up across about a dozen modifiers that can help assist in your quest to land a 10,000x max win.

Cash in Transit Review

I don't see anything wrong with removing a base game as long as it's perfectly possible to trigger the bonus game more often than not. Money Cart and its various sequels managed to do exactly that but will Cash in Transit be quite so active?

Gameplay & Features

As you begin this criminal adventure of a lifetime, you feel like you're stuck on the M25 staring at the back of a Transit van as you wait for things to get moving. However, this van’s red and it's not full of building materials.

Instead, you might find that it's full of cash and to get your hands on it, you'll need to blow the doors off. To do this, you need three bonus symbols to land and that's about it. Call it a base game if you like but there's nothing else to worry about.

Bonus Game

Once the bonus game erupts, you find yourself facing a respins quest and you get three lives to begin with. Landing special symbols will refresh those lives and believe me when I say there are many special symbols to look forward to.

Up first is the cash bag and these are the ones that you'll see most frequently. As a cash bag lands, it reveals between 1 and 10 coins.

Next is the bag man who acts as a collector and we've all seen this many times before. All of the values are drawn towards the collector and play continues. If you see a bag man/money man, between three and five symbols add their values together and fire this number off to the target symbols.

A locksmith can double the value of up to eight symbols and the guv’nor brings up to seven symbols back to life again. A pawnbroker brings in the value of cash bags and takes them off the reels to make space for more cash bags. Detectives double the value of random symbols up to six times.

Constables reveal values worth up to 100x and then add up to 10 times that amount to a random symbol. Persistent symbols are exactly the same as above but they stick around and will perform their task with each spin.

Finally, you get a persistent attack dog that turns into different symbols with each spin.

Cash in Transit - Bonus Modifiers

Bonus Modifiers

This game is all about the bonus and once you're there, you'll find bags of cash and various modifiers to help improve those cash values. You'll see collectors, symbol changes, upgrades and more as you attempt to walk off with this swag.

Win Potential

The win potential could be fabulous but it will all depend on those modifiers. As we saw with the Money Cart series, it can be a very dull day out there unless something kicks into gear very quickly. I waited for a while for the medium volatility to do its thing and eventually, it did pay me some rewards. However, it wasn't anything close to the 10,000x max win. I didn't find that the bonus game triggered as often as I would have liked, so I found myself spinning around looking for bonus symbols for a while.

Design

You couldn't really ask for more from a game that offers a van full of cash – perhaps it could have gone for a profile view and showed us some wheels but what were we going to gain from that? You're staring at the tail lights and the bags of cash appear during the bonus with each modifier symbol naturally having its own design.

It's quite a nice view of some London-esque streets where the van is parked and apart from that, you don't get much more detail. I quite like that the number plate shows you how many spins are remaining and what your total win is. It's easy to work out what's going on and that goes for mobile phones as well.

Our Verdict

Cash in Transit is 100% a copycat slot and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. I quite like this approach from Relax Gaming and they're not apologising for rehashing a proven formula. It's not as good or as exciting as the Money Train series but if you've never played them before then perhaps Cash In Transit might grab your attention. For everyone else, unfortunately, you might find yourself heading back towards the steam-powered locomotive instead.
