Design

One thing's for certain, when you open this game there’s no doubt that it’s set in the Arctic Ocean. Everything from the background to the game board is white and blue, with the only colour supplied by a few of the symbols, but the game's blurb gives us more of a fixed location hint!

The Bonus symbol is the most vibrant with a bright gold anchor standing out from the reels, and the three crew members are nicely animated, if a little angry-looking. As you can imagine, the start of the show is the orca who lets out a rather satisfying roar when you land a big win.

The colour scheme changes once you get into the free spins round, with a red sunset and even some Northern Lights action illuminating the screen behind. 

The soundtrack is a suitably jaunty sea-shanty affair that wouldn't be out of place in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. 

Gameplay

I really enjoyed my session with Big Bite. As mentioned, I tend to favour slots more on the simple side, and Big Bite offers fun and excitement without a lot of confusing bells and whistles. The base game is rather standard, but the fact that you can find most of the special symbols in it means you are not just trying to find your way to the bonus round. That said, the free spins game is definitely more action-packed and moves at a faster pace, especially once the orca sets off on his quest to find you those multipliers. 

Win Potential

There are plenty of chances to win with Big Bite. The game comes in at a reasonable 96.33% RTP and this as a low to medium volatility slot, meaning you should start to see small, frequent wins rather quickly. Couple that with the chance for instant cash prizes, multipliers, 5 different jackpots and a top prize of 10,000x, and you can see why I think this game has plenty of win potential.

My Verdict

I must admit, I wasn't overly excited to try Big Bite given that the fishing theme has been done to death recently. However, I was utterly charmed by this fun and straightforward title from Push Gaming. Even though it has just 5 reels and 10 paylines in the base game, there’s so much to keep you entertained in this sweet slot. The fact that it gives you more than enough chances to reel in some decent wins is a bonus – I’ll be booking another Arctic fishing trip soon!
