Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner Review
There's no denying that the Big Bass Bonanza series is one of the biggest franchises out there. People just cannot get enough of the adorable Fisherman and his fish.
Within the past couple of years, Pragmatic Play has been working hard to deliver new gameplay with exciting mechanics and different visuals to shape the gameplay. Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner (also known as Big Bass Hold & Spinner) is easily the most ambitious one yet!
Not only does this slot have a free spin round with multipliers but there is also a brand-new mechanic with Hold & Spinner. Could Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner be a new classic in the series or just another failed experiment? Find out in this review.
Design
Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner starts off just like any other Big Bass Bonanza slot. There is a background showcasing the bottom of the ocean with the surface at the top. There are fish swimming around as well as plant life blowing through the water. However, it's worth pointing out that there are cute frogs and dragonflies at the top of the screen which is slightly different to what we are used to.
All the fan-favourite symbols return on the reels with the different types of fish and fishing tackle. Of course, the star is easily Mr Fisherman returning from his break at Club Tropicana.
The audio throughout is just like any other Big Bass Bonanza slot with a fanfare track playing with big wins and ambient audio of the water throughout the base game. In terms of the design, there is nothing different about this slot apart from a cutscene of the Fisherman blowing a bazooka which is hilarious to see.
Gameplay
Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner contains two bonus rounds throughout the slot which is unusual for a fishing slot. The first is the typical free spins round that is triggered by landing 3 or more scatters. During free spins, you'll find multipliers of up to x10.
As for the other bonus round, it's a respin mechanic called Hold & Spinner. This delivers 3 respins that reset with each new symbol. It's new for a fishing slot and we definitely think players will enjoy the variety.
Win Potential
With the Big Bass Bonanza slots, you'll usually find the RTP above average and a maximum win of up to 5,000x the stake. Thankfully, Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner features the RTP above average at 96.07% but there is a maximum win of up to 10,000x stake which is huge for a Pragmatic Play slot.
Like most other Big Bass Bonanza slots, there is a high volatility level in this slot. This means that there will be larger wins but these will appear less frequently. Therefore, we recommend that you make sure you have the bankroll to sustain yourself for this slot.
Our Verdict
Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner is easily the most innovative one yet! The free spins round is expected but the Hold & Spinner mechanic was not. We were blown away by the gameplay on offer and found us forgetting that it was a fishing slot.
Pragmatic Play has truly outdone itself with this fishing slot as the gameplay is refreshing and there are even massive wins waiting for lucky players. If you are going to play one fishing slot, make sure it's Big Bass Bonanza Hold & Spinner.
