Armadillo Goes West Review
As the third slot from Armadillo Studios, there was a lot of pressure for Armadillo Goes West to be successful. Thankfully, Armadillo Studios delivers with this slot on almost all fronts.
Starting off with 5-reels with 25 ways to win, this slot may seem straightforward at first glance. However, when you dive into the features and the design, you'll soon realise that this is not your average Armadillo slot.
Design
The minute the slot opens up, you just know it's going to be a good game. It opens up in the Wild West and you'll find it taking place in a desert area surrounded by giant rocks and baron trees. However, the little Armadillo mascot next to the reels sets the true pace for the slot.
It is adorned with a sheriff's hat, cigar, ascot and a pistol so you already know that this Armadillo does not take any prisoners. There are even slight animations throughout as well with the Armadillo reacting to moments in the slot which is an epic moment to see.
All the symbols on the reels are related to the Wild West with whisky bottles, rattlesnakes, cowboy hats and horseshoes. It definitely feels like the whole design is consistent in creating a world that's befitting for the Armadillo.
Of course, the crowning moment for this slot in terms of the design is the amazing audio. There is a western track with harmonicas, guitars and rattles mixed with a hip-hop beat to create something special.
Gameplay
Whilst we were absolutely blown away by the design, we were just as impressed with the gameplay. There are seven different features that can randomly be triggered throughout followed by two bonus rounds. None of the features are limited and each has the potential to deliver vibrant gameplay.
Armadillo Studios likes to keep things simple with the interface as players will find the spin button and bet level to the right. All other menus can be found on the left side of the screen.
Win Potential
Armadillo Goes West was too good to be true as we found out with the win potential. Sadly, this drops the quality a lot as the RTP is 94.46% which is under the average standard and not even acceptable for a slot of this calibre. We often say that RTP under the average is accepted with a progressive jackpot or if it's a branded slot - none of which are in this slot.
As expected, the slot is a high volatility game as well leading to bigger wins but less frequently. As for those bigger wins, players can only win up to 4,000x the stake through the trail bonus with a specific feature. It's frustrating that there is a low maximum win and the conditions are quite hard to reach to gain the maximum.
Our Verdict
Almost everything in this slot comes together perfectly to deliver a unique experience with Armadillo Goes West. The biggest fault in this slot is easily the win potential as it's all over the place and certainly will put off players.
If it wasn't for the win potential, then Armadillo Goes West could have easily been one of the best slots on our site - but it disappointed us with the win potential statistics. Despite this, the game experience is absolutely mesmerising and we recommend giving it a spin or two, but just be aware of the win potential.
