I’d argue that there’s more linking this game to the 2nd instalment, 4 Fantastic Fish in Egypt, than the first, despite the obvious design differences. But it does manage to keep in touch with both of its predecessors quite nicely and doesn't alter the thread too much. The addition of Gigablox is just enough to make this version feel like a decent revamp.
It's a cool Caribbean vibe that perks you up and keeps you fighting through this high-volatility shark pool. The skyline is perhaps a little basic and the same could be said for the overall presentation, but it somehow works and the cartoon feel provides a decent enough backdrop for all of these features. The game plays just as well on smaller mobile devices and you can't argue with that cheeky squid who pops up from time to time, bringing a little additional modifier to your gameplay.
Gigablox have the potential to blow up your balance when they arrive in the right places. However, if they don't, then you will be waiting for that elusive squid to mix up the reels a little or some Scatter symbols to take you away from the base game. It all depends on what mood the slot’s in as to how much excitement it will provide. It can be great fun when it's firing on all cylinders but the modifiers weren't frequent enough for me to make a mediocre run of spins feel entertaining.
I feel like 4 Fantastic Fish Gigablox would have benefited from much lower volatility given the setup. As it stands, the high volatility will bring the occasional big win but also some regular lulls in the action. 12,000x is the top possible payout and the RTP is 96%.
