It isn't exactly a standard setup when it comes to the reels in this game. During the base game, they take on a 3,4,4,4,3 row formation and in the bonus game, it can get a little bit crazy. More on that in a moment.
Winning symbols need to form a group on adjacent reels giving you a maximum of 576 ways, running from left to right. The royal symbols can produce up to 1.75 x for a group of five kings, queens and aces while the picture symbols stretch to 6x four five detective chaps.
Mystery symbols may also appear, bringing a group of matching symbols taken from the regular payers. They can't turn into Wilds or Scatters and speaking of which, Wild symbols may appear on reels two, three and four.
Scatter symbols are the key to the bonus action and three of these will produce three lives. Every time a new win lands, your lives get renewed. Scatter symbols can help increase the number of winlines and this might happen right from the outset.

It's a bit of a cheesy Sherlock Holmes rip-off, but I'm OK with that as I'm from London and it's always nice to see these dark, dank streets represented in the world of slots! Our main character waits patiently to the side of the reels, presumably watching out for the capital's criminal element that could turn up at any moment. During the bonus game, you get to see the villain take the place of our detective as the top-paying symbol.
The reels have a typically Dickensian feel with ornate carvings providing a little extra artistic flair. Symbols include a gun, pocket watch and of course, some poison because every crime should involve a little bottle of green death juice, right? An eerie score plays out in the background with the sound of the ticking pocket watching adding to the tension along the way.
Even though the reels are a little odd and quite static throughout the base game, you still get the added benefit of Mystery symbols and Wild symbols to potentially enhance your bankroll.
