There's something a little unnerving about this game and it's quite hard to describe exactly what it is. I think part of it has to do with the atrocious sound effects and the brash animations are also lending a hand! I'm not sure if there was a fault with the version that I played – it is still in its pre-production phase – but I couldn't have the sound on for more than about 5 seconds! There's an electric guitar track rolling around in the background but there's an extra sound effect on top that only makes sense during the bonus round. It's there to denote the random multiplier being selected but I have no idea why it's overlaid on the backing track of the base game. Hopefully, Pragmatic Play will sort this out and stop players from having an anxiety attack while they hit the spin button.
On the whole, it is a pretty dismal-looking game with some clouds rolling by in the background and the odd lightning bolt that could have been produced by a kid on his first computer. But at least you can play it on mobile phones!
I know that some people are going to be hard on Ride the Lightning due to its lack of innovative features, terrible design and rudimentary paylines structure. In its defence though, it does pay out some decent prizes every now and then and if you're prepared to kiss a few frogs, you might just meet your handsome prince if you know what I mean. I'd give it a spin just out of morbid curiosity if I were you!
