Fans of Megaways games will find most of this very familiar. The action takes place on a grid that can effectively expand and contract depending on the size of the symbols that fall, but the maximum dimension is 6x6 plus the Top Tracker wheel.
The Top Tracker reel sits above reels 2 to 5 and serves as an extra way to hit winning combinations, although rather than symbols dropping in from above they come across from the right.
Starting from the leftmost reel, winning combinations consist of landing between 3 and 6-of-a-kind on adjacent reels. 9 to Ace are the low pays, 6-of-kind paying out 0.8x to 1.75x the bet. High pays are, in ascending order of value, yellow devil plectrum, golden vinyl, speakers and Megaways of Rock. Their 6-of-a-kinds will pay out between 2x to 50x the bet.
There are also the Blue Flame Skull Mystery symbols. When these fall, they transform to reveal the same pay symbol, thereby giving players a helping hand towards landing winning combos. If you land a winning combination, its symbols will benefit from a ‘Reaction’ and be replaced by more symbols, thus giving players yet another chance to win.
Electric Guitar Wilds substitute for all symbols bar the Pink Skull Bonus Scatter symbol. Bear in mind that they only appear on the Top Tracker Reel.
You’ll need at least 4 Scatter symbols to fall to gain access to the bonus round. Said round starts off with a quick spin on the Free Spins Wheel. This will dictate how many free spins you get and what Multiplier you’ll start off with—maximum 30x. However, what’s available on the wheel depends on how many Scatters you’ve landed to enter the Free Spins round.
4 Scatters gives you a maximum of 10 free spins. 5 Scatters give you a maximum of 20. 6 gives you a maximum of 25, and 7 Scatters gives players a max of 30. During the round, the Multiplier increases by +1 with every Reaction, and the multiplier remains until the end of the round. Also, keep an eye on the Top Tracker Reel as this is where further Scatter symbols fall. 3 will give you 5 more free spins. 4 will give you 10.

In true Megaways fashion, you’ve got a game area that can present a varying number of symbols on each reel plus a Top Tracker Reel above reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Players will probably find the glam rock soundtrack no more generic than anything else in the mainstream these days. That being said, the music gets a bit more thrash metal in the bonus game, which I personally enjoyed. The visuals leave quite a lot to be desired, though. Then again, that might be intentional given the era the game is paying homage to.
As alluded to before, this is a fairly standard Megaways game, so don’t be expecting anything earth-shattering. The addition of a Minimum Multiplier Ring to the Free Spins wheel is a nice touch. As always, Mystery symbols, the Top Tracker Reel and the ever-expanding (and contracting) game area serve well to keep you captivated.
The game does boast an impressive max win of 50,000x, which isn’t bad when you’ve got a fairly generous RTP of 96%. Having said that, while I was playing, the game seemed a little uneventful, but I guess that’s what can happen when you’ve got a highly volatile slot with such a big max win on offer.
Megaways of Rock does everything you’d expect from a Megaways slot but little else. The sound is okay but the visuals are a little underwhelming. If you’re a fan of theme, you probably won’t be disappointed but you might want to consider other rock slots such as Kiss Reels of Rock or Punk Rocker instead.
