Gold Oasis Review
I wonder if kings and queens from ancient Egypt had any idea that the slot fraternity would be quite so obsessed with their lives. Gold Oasis is yet another example of our affection for camels and dusty landscapes presenting golden lamps and veiled beauties. It is a fairly stereotypical affair, as is always the case with the slots in this genre.
Design
You can't escape the sand in an ancient Egyptian slot, and why would you want to? It's part of the appeal and is flying around by the bucket load in Gold Oasis. Other animated elements are fairly restricted and only the occasional palm tree swaying and a change of stance from a camel in the distance have made the final cut.
Everything's presented with a dark red hue as the sun seems to be setting on this romantic adventure and I have no complaints on the design front—the team at Pragmatic Play certainly knows how to craft a good-looking game. Finally, it’s good to know that everything comes to life perfectly on mobile phones so you can log in and play wherever you want.
Gameplay
Removing the win line restrictions always gets my vote and it was nice to see that even adjacent reels aren't an obstacle in Gold Oasis. This coupled with the Symbol Duel that takes place occasionally makes for a fairly interesting base game that does its best to keep you locked in.
The Free Spins Bonus is a little short and sweet if you don't land those extra Scatter symbols and some players might feel a little shortchanged with just 5 spins coming their way. But It is possible to land more and this bonus can extend to bring great riches if you're lucky.
Win Potential
Hidden behind all of this sand and shiny gold is a max 7,260x win, which could be considered a little light given the huge win potential we're seeing in some recent slots. The volatility is exceptionally high and you can expect a top RTP of 96.06%. But remember, this final figure will change slightly depending on your access to the direct feature buy-in.
My Verdict
Gold Oasis was never going to make it into my top 10 but I knew from the start that I would enjoy whatever Pragmatic Play had to throw at me this time. My problem is that it's not my favourite genre, but for many players, this will tick all the right boxes and could produce some decent wins at the same time. Saddle up your camel and take Gold Oasis out for a trip across the desert and see what you think.
Paul spent plenty of time in arcades up and down the UK discovering all of the best fruit machines and watching them grow into the incredible online slots we see today. He still loves the basic format but also has a soft spot for games with big bonus rounds that progress as you play. Immortal Romance is one of his favourite slots of all time.
