Game of Gladiators: Uprising Review
The feature modifiers in the Game of Gladiators: Uprising are both a blessing and a curse. When they trigger, they can bring great potential to the game. But it also means that wilds and multipliers will land less frequently as they are part of a feature and not just standard symbols.
Luckily, the volatility isn't too high so you won't be waiting forever to see 1 of these fantastic additions hit the screen. Several slots feature an epic battle like this one and using a free spins feature to pit 2 challengers against each other is always an exciting storyline.
Most players simply love this method. It's not too gruesome or gory so you can keep your mind firmly fixed on the prize rather than hiding behind a cushion to avoid the bloodshed.
Design
The game takes place in a Roman amphitheatre with the challengers waiting patiently to come out of their cells to commence battle. Some nice animated touches have been added to these characters as you see them bobbing around behind the grates with an impatient look in their eyes.
The base game benefits from lightning strikes as each win lands and the gladiator symbols have their own visual sequence as they produce their modifiers. The free spins round is altogether more visually epic than the base game and the challengers attack each other frequently. It becomes a cross between a video game and a slot at this point. It's a decent display that you can't help but admire.
The sound effects are of the baying crowd eagerly awaiting to see the final blow inflicted by 1 of their heroes. This is all accompanied by an upbeat classical score that receives an added boost to the tempo during the bonus round.
Gameplay
The gladiator modifiers are what holds this game together and set it apart from many others. There is always a chance that one of the gladiator symbols will land, producing a re-spin and wilds or multipliers.
These come around occasionally to nudge your concentration and every so often 2 different ones come into view and take you away to the free spins battle. It is a fast-paced and enjoyable—if not slightly dark—adventure.
Win Potential
The maximum payout in Play'n GO's Game of Gladiators: Uprising is fixed at 6,000x stake. And for a medium volatility game, this is very decent indeed. The RTP is just over the average and regular wins of a smallish value will hopefully keep your bankroll intact for the duration.
Our Verdict
In our opinion, the sequel is an improvement on the original Game of Gladiators title. It has more exciting elements and visually, it has more to offer. We are throwing down the gauntlet and challenging you to take it for a spin.
