Diamond Sands Review
This luxury-themed slot from Just for the Win and Microgaming is a fun, retro, tongue-in-cheek game that makes us want to drop everything and go on a tropical holiday! With 5 reels and 3 rows, from the outset, Diamond Sands looks like a standard slot. But add in 4 jackpots, a ton of special features and a huge 243 ways to win, and suddenly this cute little slot gets a bit more serious.
Diamond Sands comes with a top prize of 5,000x your stake, which can only be reached if you can trigger the Diamond Wheel feature. But even without the Diamond Wheel, there are lots here to keep you entertained, including random money symbols, an outstanding free spins round and scatters and multipliers aplenty.
Just keep in mind that this game is highly volatile, so you might need to sit around in your robe drinking Champagne for a while, as you wait for those big wins to come in. Still, there are worse things to do in your spare time.
In all honesty, we didn’t have high expectations for Diamond Sands. The luxury theme has been done a million times before, and the graphics are pretty basic and not particularly original. However, when you start to play the game, you can't help but get sucked into the light-hearted spirit of things.
The game is set in the 5-star resort of Diamond Sands, which reminds us of Miami in the 1980s. The pretty pink and orange colour scheme, and symbols of Champagne, casino chips and ridiculously over-the-top cocktails, all add to the silly but rather sweet tropical vacation vibe of this game.
The soundtrack is mellow too until you start bringing in the wins, where it gets a lot more energetic. In fact, when all’s said and done, we ended up falling head over heels for this daft slot!
At first glance, this is a very typical slot game. You have 5 reels and 3 rows, which is about as standard as you can get, and your job is to match symbols across the reels going from left to right. However, in an unexpected twist, Diamond Sands actually has 243 paylines, which spices up proceedings considerably.
Furthermore, with so many special features, including the Diamond Wheel and Sunset Free Spins round, this game starts to become less fanciful and you’ll start to see some real potential when it comes to taking home some solid prizes.
Diamond Sands has 4 different jackpots up for grabs. The Big Jackpot will see you win 20x your stake; the Major gives you 50x; the Mega will land you 250x and the Diamond Jackpot will give you an extremely generous 5,000x win. However, this game is highly volatile, meaning that a little patience is the key to getting into the Diamond Wheel feature and landing one of those jackpots.
But with a solid RTP of 96.08%, and a great range of betting options between 20p and £50, Diamond Sands gives you lots of opportunities for fun and some excellent cash prizes.
We couldn’t help but love the Diamond Sands game. It wins no prizes for originality, but what it lacks in the creativity department, it more than makes up for with special features and great winning potential.
The luxury resort theme is light-hearted and fun, and it’s clear from the 80’s colour palette and silly symbols that this game doesn’t take itself too seriously. That said, don’t overlook this game and its tongue-in-cheek theme.
With so many special features, including 243 paylines and 4 different jackpots, Diamond Sands gives you some fantastic chances to win big, and is fast becoming our new favourite holiday destination!
