What the devil is Pragmatic Playing at?! They've removed bonus symbols and instead, you need to land something special in the middle of the grid to trigger a couple of bonus games and add big wins to the game area. It's an odd way to achieve the things we love but I'm prepared to try something new – are you?
5x3 game areas are pretty standard these days but what isn't standard is the method of triggering special features in this game. Before you can even think about that, you need to get to grips with the regular wins and they come courtesy of five royals and five picture symbols.
You can win up to 0.5x for a group of 5 aces and from the picture symbols, you'll need five of the crowns to hit you a 10x win.
The wild symbol is represented by the devil himself and these substitute for other regular payers. The main problem with this symbol is that it won't land anywhere other than the centre space during the base game.
Coin symbols are also available with values worth up to 2x and whenever one of these lands along with the wild devil in the centre of the screen, you pick up the coin value.
The wild symbol can also fire a ball towards one of the four pots at the top of the grid and it might hit the coin pot to place six more coins onto the reels. If it lands on the super coin pot, you get the same thing but the values of the coins are slightly better.
If the demon's fireball hits the win spins pot, you're off to play six respins with the wild symbol staying present throughout. The 100x buy-in for the free spins bonus is quite hefty but some players might decide to go down this route as it can be hard to land a demon in the centre of the grid. I found that wins were vastly improved as I played for free but they wouldn't have exceeded the 100x price tag. I walked away with nearly 70x in my pot and I imagine the high volatility could pump out a much bigger win for some players. I don't think the 6,000x max win is ridiculously optimistic and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it lands for you!
Pragmatic has gone for a cartoon feel rather than any detailed demonic artwork. There are a few cheesy flames in the background and as the demon activates his features, he laughs to himself to show his approval. The symbols are in keeping with the rest of the setup and smaller mobile screens will enjoy the simple layout that makes it easy for everyone to understand what's going on. The base game wins aren't entirely encouraging with only the top two symbols returning more than your initial bet and even for those, a three-of-a-kind just doesn't quite cut it. The wild symbol only appears in the centre during the base game, so that's not going to help you out either by standing in for regular wins. Therefore, you need to get through to the bonus game to see any larger rewards come your way and that's a bit of a shame. Demon Pots is it nice game but probably best suited to those who can take advantage of the direct bonus purchase.
