Delicious Candy PopWins Review
Slot games based around sweet treats have become hugely popular with players, possibly because they don’t contain any calories, but just might offer up a few cash prizes.
And we know that Stakelogic is keen to make the most of their PopWins licence, so Delicious Candy PopWins hasn’t come as too much of a surprise. But is it any good?
Design
The design team at Stakelogic have decided to tread the familiar ground with this slot theme. As soon as the game launches you’ll enter into a world of pink hot air balloons, candy trees and marshmallow clouds.
So far, so familiar. There’s a synthesised soundtrack that’s designed to add some extra atmosphere, although it has the capacity to become irritating during longer playing sessions.
The reels themselves have something of a look of a pinboard about them. All symbols vanish for each new spin, with a short delay before new symbols land to take their place.
Things are not greatly improved in Turbo mode, which is something we’ve encountered before with Stakelogic games. It’s a little annoying, but it’s certainly not a deal breaker.
Gameplay
Thanks to the PopWins mechanic and free spins multiplier feature, there’s quite a lot to take in when you first fire up the reels. We recommend taking Delicious Candy PopWins for a few demo spins before wagering any money, so you get a feel for how it plays out over time.
Decide your bet level and how many spins you’re going to aim for, then spin and see what unfolds! If things don’t quite pan out your way, there’s an option to swing results more in your favour.
Activate the Super Stake feature to double your bet – it won’t add anything to the value of any wins, but it increases the chances of triggering the bonus. And it adds a free spins multiplier onto the base game reels, which could generate some big payouts!
Win Potential
Match three or more symbols in either direction across the reels to win a cash prize. Five-of-a-kind symbol matches across all reels award the following returns on your stake:
- Plain candies = 1.5x
- Blue striped candy = 2x
- Purple striped candy = 2.5x
- Pink striped candy = 3x
- Red 7 = 4x
- Star-shaped candy = 6x
- BAR = 8x
- Gold crown = 12.5x
The free spins bonus round is where the biggest payouts are to be found, thanks to those win multipliers. Your initial multiplier increases +1 with every win, and +2 if all reels manage to reach nine symbols high. This is where the potential for that max payout worth 10,000x your stake comes into play, and that’s a prize any one of us would love to win!
Some jurisdictions allow players to purchase the bonus round, which comes with four options. This isn’t a feature that’s currently available in the UK, but activating Super Stake mode increases the chances of triggering the free spins round.
Our Verdict
The PopWins mechanic was developed by AvatarUX, with Stakelogic having recently acquired a licence that allows them to make use of it. Whether or not they’ve managed to create anything quite as eye-catching as AvatarUX remains open to doubt though.
Although this is a solid game with some decent mechanics, it just never seems to hit the same note as other PopWins games, such as Cherry Pop Deluxe, for example.
But that’s not to say you won’t enjoy playing Delicious Candy PopWins. If you’re looking for a candy-based game with high volatility and some big potential cash prizes, this is definitely worth a look.
We’re just not quite convinced that it’s going to raise the same level of excitement as some other, similar games. Try it for yourself, and see what you think!
