Play takes place on a 5x3 game area, on which there are not 10 but 13 paylines. Starting from the first reel, wins consist of matching symbols along the paylines. The 10 to ace card symbols are the low pays, with a 5-of-a-kind potentially worth 10x the stake. In the same way, the high-pay gods, goddesses, pharaohs and main character symbols go all the way up to 1,000x.
The Book symbol is the game’s Wild, substituting for all pay symbols. It also serves as the game's scatter, and depending on the amount you land, will dictate the bonus round you trigger.
The game's Book feature will occasionally trigger during the base game. 3 to 5 instances of a randomly selected symbol will land during the spin, and those symbols will then expand to cover their entire reel. They pay out regardless of where they are on the board and also form part of payline wins, even if other symbols are between them.
3 scatters trigger the Book of Dawn Bonus, which gives you 10 free spins. The book mechanic also triggers, so you receive a special symbol, and you’ll need at least 3 instances of said symbol to land to see the symbols expand.

If you land a Best of Bonus Scatter when you trigger the Bonus, you’ll unlock the Best of Book of Dawn Bonus. The graphics and colour scheme are really immersive and the resemblance of the main character to Lara Croft suggests Tomb Raider was the main inspiration for this game. That said, the graphics are much more PS5 than they are PS1. The symbols, for example, are really well-rendered and animated, almost 3-D. One tiny little gripe is that the animations of the reels are a little on the clunky side.
Sitar-infused music plays in the background along with the sound of stone grinding against stone giving the game the appropriate feel of tomb-raiding adventure.
If the game’s presentation is important to you, I’d advise against playing it on mobile. Everything sounds great, but the visual layout is very cramped and the animations are quite clunky.
There's always plenty going on, even in the base game, and the Book mechanic isn’t exclusive to the bonus round either. Nonetheless, the free spins round(s) is where the real fun is had with 3 permutations - plenty to keep you exploring to see what treasures you unearth next.
The game has a medium-volatility model and the RTP is 96.24%. I wasn’t hugely surprised that the max win isn't out of this world. However, I think 10,000x is still fantastic and you should hopefully hit winning combos and trigger the bonuses regularly.
