Dance Party has 5 reels and 3 rows. However, rather than matching symbols left to right to make a payline, the game lets you match 3 or more of the same symbol on any reel, giving you 243 ways to win.
There are 8 regular-paying symbols, with 4 low-paying letters and 4 higher-paying images that include classic fruit machine symbols like BAR and lucky 7s. The top-paying symbol here is the DJ which awards 7.5x if you can find 5 of them. The special symbols are the Dance Party wild that appears on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, and the Diamond scatter that appears on all reels. The base game is pretty fun to play, thanks mainly to the striking graphics and animations, and the 243 paylines offer you more chances to make winning combos, but the free spins round is definitely where the big wins are at.
The Diamond scatter is the key to the free spins round, as well as the multiplier you get while you play.
Landing 5 scatters will trigger the free spins round, and once in, every time you spin the win multiplier increases by 1x. If you manage to trigger the round with 6 scatters, the win multiplier increases by 2x, and for 7 scatters, it increases by 3x. The most you can increase the multiplier by is up to 30x.
During the free spins round, you can also trigger more spins by finding another 5 scatters. You can trigger up to 60 respins, so not only is Dance Party generous with its multipliers, it gives you plenty of chances to stay in the bonus game.
It didn’t take me too long to get to the free spins round, and I triggered it with 6 scatters, so I started with a 2x multiplier. Unfortunately, I didn’t trigger any more free spins, but I did pocket a fair few quid due to a rather sizable stake and the multiplier.

As is pretty standard for Pragmatic Play slots, this game is highly volatile, which means you could be waiting around for a while before seeing a big win. I was surprised at how quickly I got into the free spins round, but generally speaking, I found this game doesn’t pay out very frequently.
The RTP is 96.50%, which is above average, but I wouldn’t take this as a sign that you’ll be quids-in any time soon. That said, the 243 ways to win definitely helps you pick up a few wins here and there, and with a bit of luck, you could find that elusive 30x multiplier in the free spins round.
I love a retro-themed slot, and as a child of the 80s, I really enjoyed the nostalgic feel of Dance Party. The graphics are basic but nicely done, and the neon sign styling brings fun, light-hearted gameplay to this carefree slot.
For me, the visuals are spot on, but where Pragmatic Play could have put more effort into things is with the music. For a dance-themed game, the music is really quite boring and generic. In fact, it sounds like one of the demos you use to get on an old Yamaha keyboard! That said, music can be a little off-putting when playing a slot game, so perhaps there’s method to Pragmatic’s madness.
I had a great time playing Dance Party. The theme is right up my street and there are enough features here to keep you entertained. The 243 ways to win add depth to the base game, while the Progressive Multiplier free spins round is a cool twist on this popular type of bonus round.
