Cops 'n' Robbers Big Money Review
You don’t need us to tell you that Cops 'n' Robbers Big Money is a crime-themed slot. But we can certainly let you know about the various features and win potential, to help you make up your mind about whether it’s worth taking for a spin at any of the leading slot sites.
Design
This may be a modern game, but it’s given a bit of a retro feel thanks to an old-fashioned design ethos. Although there are high-rise buildings on the London skyline, the cops and robbers, as well as the police cars, are straight out of the 1970s, albeit with a fun, cartoon makeover.
That cartoon element comes to the fore during the bonus round, with a thrilling chase across the Multiplier Trail. And it’s all accompanied by a finger-clicking, toe-tapping musical accompaniment that helps to keep things rolling along.
Gameplay
Cops 'n' Robbers Big Money gives you a choice of two base gameplay modes. During the main game you’ll be aiming to match up game symbols across the ten paylines, although you can disregard the values shown on loot bags – simply lining up assorted bags will result in a paytable win.
Activate Fortune Spins mode and all game symbols are removed, other than loot symbols, robber Wilds and Scatters. Now there are only loot bags to match up on paylines, until a robber lands on the screen! He collects the value of every loot bag, in a feature that’s usually reserved for the free spins bonus round.
Free Spins
Three Scatter symbols are needed to trigger the free spins bonus round, but the more of them you can land, the bigger your starting multiplier will be:
- 3 Scatters = 1x
- 4 Scatters = 2x
- 5 Scatters = 3x
You’ll see a Multiplier Trail laid out across the top of the reels. Every robber that lands during the bonus moves the robber on the Trail forwards one step, with increasing multipliers along the way. But now a cop Wild is added to the reels, moving one step forward on the Multiplier Trail with each one that spins up during the game.
When the cop catches up with the robber, it’s off to the ID Parade. Three suspects are presented, one of which will be randomly highlighted, with the following outcomes:
- Bert: the bonus round ends.
- Sid: the cop moves back 2 positions and the bonus continues.
- Vic: the robber moves forward to the next multiplier and the bonus continues.
Win potential
Matching up five-of-a-kind symbols across one of the 10 paylines returns 10x your stake for the playing card icons, increasing to 20x for the swag bags. Expect 50x your bet for lining up police cars or cash, with the blue flashing lights delivering up to 100x your bet.
The top-paying symbols are the game’s logo and the Wilds, which are represented by the cops and robbers themselves – although the cops only show up during the free spin bonus round.
There’s an adjustable Gamble feature which can be switched on or off, or set to activate on any win worth 5x your wager. Adjust the segments of the gambling wheel and choose which prize to aim for – you could increase your win by a third, double it, triple it or aim for one of the bonus rounds.
In some jurisdictions, you can purchase the bonus for 100x your stake, although this won’t guarantee your winnings will cover the cost. This feature isn’t available to UK players.
Our Verdict
It might not incorporate the most cutting-edge game design, but there’s no denying that Cops 'n' Robbers Big Money offers up plenty of fun, along with enough bonus features to satisfy most players. The Multiplier Trail in the bonus round gives almost endless opportunities to try for wins, and high rollers will enjoy the Fortune Spins option.
The cartoon vibe means that Cops 'n' Robbers Big Money won’t be for everyone, but we think it’s worthy of at least a few trial spins. It offers a fun take on a popular theme, with the chance of spinning up some decent cash prizes along the way.
