Blood and Gold Review
Embark on a prestigious adventure to join either the Glorious King or the Barbarian Queen in battle. This medieval slot from Lightning Box showcases the battle of good vs evil with players getting to choose the side.
Blood and Gold plays on 5-reels with 26 paylines and builds up towards a battle respin mode where players battle against the other faction. If they remain victorious, then wins of up to 2,300x the stake can be delivered.
Sadly, when the slot opens up, the background is a bland static image of the kingdom. It looks like a tacky Christmas card that you would get with not a huge amount of detail but you know there is effort there. This would've been so much better to have an animated background or something of a higher quality.
This is even more confusing as the symbols on the reels are to a high standard containing the king and the queen. Both of these characters look like they could be from roleplaying games or a big fantasy epic. Even during the battle rounds, the design is fairly impressive and way better than the base game.
To round off this slot, the game features wonderful audio with a violin and stringed score. It perfectly encaptures the spirit of medieval times and fits in amazingly.
There is not a huge amount to this slot aside from the respin mode. It's a little disappointing that there isn't more going on throughout the base game such as modifiers or multipliers. The only exciting part is the respin mode which can take a while to trigger.
Anything the player will need can be found at the bottom of the screen with the spin and bet level buttons. All the other statistics and menus in this slot can be found on the left side of the screen as well.
If the gameplay was a letdown, then you'll be saddened to find that it gets even worse with the win potential. Firstly, there is an under the average RTP of 94% which is way under the average and this amount would only be accepted with a huge jackpot.
As a high volatility slot, we'd expect at least a payout of 5,000x the stake but this slot disappoints again with a terrible maximum win of 2,300x the stake. Almost everything is wrong with the win potential which ultimately will put a load of players off.
This game had so much potential to be a classic and could even rival Kingdoms Rise - but failed spectacularly. The best part about this game is the theme and the bonus round - everything else is just mediocre.
From the win potential to the gameplay, everything is basic and under the average with this slot. The theme could've been something huge but the developers just did not deliver. It's worth spinning for the bonus round - but that is literally about it.
