Like most Inspired Entertainment slots, there is not a huge amount to this slot. It all starts off with the Santa wild that substitutes all the symbols except the bonus symbol.
In order to enter the bonus round, you'll have to gain 3 or more bonus symbols. During the bonus round, the big catch will only have a single value which is chosen in the match game. These can start at 30x and go all the way up to 100x.
In the match game, the game will show 6, 9 or 12 identical tiles depending on the number of bonus symbols used to trigger. Selecting these symbols one at a time uncovers the biggest catches. Once 3 matching values have been made, the bonus will start with the corresponding big fish values.

For a Christmas-fishing slot, the design is not nearly as bad as it could've been. The background is a simple hue of blue but fits into the fishing theme. There are sprinkles of snowflakes throughout which add the Christmas feeling to the slot.
On the reels, there is a candy cane surrounding the edge. In addition to this, there is a frosted glass touch added to the slot. There are even further festive touches to the reels with presents in fishing boats and fishing rods wrapped up. It's all quite adorable.

Big Santa Fortune had the potential to be a classic but falls at the final hurdle. We can ignore the lack of extra features or base game mechanics in favour of the excellent bonus round.
However, we cannot forgive the terrible RTP of 94.80% which does not even make sense. It's an insult to players to deliver something like that which is disappointing as the game itself is pretty solid.
