Atlantis: The Forgotten Kingdom Review
Everyone dreams of exploring Atlantis and seeing what's actually down there. With Atlantis: The Forgotten Kingdom, you finally have the chance to see the beauty of Atlantis and uncover all of the hidden treasure once and for all.
Developed by Half Pixel Studios for Microgaming, this mythical slot plays on 5-reels with 243 ways to win. Alongside stunning visuals and vibrant characters, you'll find 5 different free spins rounds along with multipliers and stacked wilds leading to some amazing wins.
Design
As the name suggests, this slot is set underwater and at the bottom of the ocean in the mysterious location of Atlantis. There are various coral and sea life at the bottom of the ocean with mountains in the distance. During the base game, there aren't really any magnificent buildings or architecture showcasing Atlantis but this changes during free spins. You are taken inside a grand castle surrounding by elegant decor showcasing the true Atlantis.
In terms of symbols on the reels, there are traditional symbols such as the playing card A to J, but there are also four different mermaids each with unique looks. The purple-haired mermaid is the warrior, the green-haired mermaid is the advisor, the orange-haired mermaid is the beauty and the red-haired mermaid is the queen. These all look ethereal and mysterious, but there's also a deadly aspect to them to show that Atlantis is not to be messed with.
Sadly, the music is a little disappointing as there is just a generic epic score in the background paired with ambient water sounds. To match the magnetic visuals, it was expected that the music would be grander or more relevant to the mysterious tone that this slot is going for.
Gameplay
There's not a lot to the gameplay as it's pretty standard - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sure, this slot doesn't add anything new but it's perfect for newcomers or online slot enthusiasts who prefer standard gameplay with great mechanics.
All of the menus can be found to the right of the screen with the spin button in the middle. The autospin and bet level are on the same menu with additional settings just at the top of the screen in case you need them.
Win Potential
Atlantis: The Forgotten Kingdom has a high volatility level mixed with a solid RTP of 96.19%. This is ideal for players who prefer higher wins and don't mind waiting for them.
The maximum win is 7,200x your stake which can be achieved through the Queen Free Spins with the multipliers. Of course, this isn't a colossal amount, but it's a decent amount for players and we found it relatively common to trigger free spins as well.
Our Verdict
It's hard not to like a slot that has five different free spins and Atlantis: The Forgotten Kingdom manages to deliver entertaining gameplay. The visuals are fantastic, but it is let down by the generic music. However, this isn't too distracting and you can always mute the music if it gets too much.
If you love mythical slots and ones about powerful women, then it's a no brainer to try out this slot. For a high volatility Atlantis slot, check out Atlantis: The Forgotten Kingdom. If you are wanting a low volatility Atlantis slot, then we'd recommend trying out Atlantis Rising.
