Some might say that the Connect & Collect feature is a little ‘old hat’ these days but I rather like it! It makes the standard payline mechanic a little more interesting as you know the extra wins are never far away. On top of that, this feature can trigger modifiers and even free spins – I can only think of good things to say so far!
Despite what you might think, not all of the places are regular spots where you can win a standard prize. On reel three, the top and bottom places are there to help out with the Connect & Collect feature and all places on reel 6 as well.
Wins start on the left-hand reel and you must see matching symbols land on adjacent reels to trigger a win. For the highest-paying character, the leprechaun, only two symbols are necessary and a group of five of these will pay 4x.
Three other picture symbols get you fairly low-value payouts of 2x, 1x and 1x. The six royals, well four royals plus a nine and a 10, will pay up to 0.8x. Wild symbols substitute for those mentioned above and they won't land on the first or last reel.
The Connect & Collect feature looks complicated but it isn't as bad as you might think. These symbols carry random money values of up to 50x but you won't see them on those two special places mentioned before.
You need these symbols to connect with each other, unsurprisingly, and create a chain. Some of them will pay a random cash amount on their own but the others need the chain connection to trigger the payout. As long as they connect horizontally or vertically, that should do the trick.
If you can get the chain to connect to the special places on the third reel, you'll start to see some additional modifiers. After that, you'll also see the final reel producing more of the same.

I didn't feel an urge to purchase free spins at any point while playing this game. I managed to trigger free spins and the respins as well at regular intervals. The payouts were pretty decent and I didn't find the high volatility too heavy going.
As an extra plus, I wouldn't say that the biggest wins are only coming in the bonus game either as the Connect and Collect feature is the key to the most desirable payouts in my opinion.
