Shamrock Miner Review
We’re always excited to see releases from Play’n GO, as this is a developer renowned for creating entertaining and enjoyable games that are packed with fun features. So does Shamrock Miner live up to expectations? We needed to take it for a spin to find out!
Design
Shamrock Miner is set against rolling green hills, with the reels representing a mine set into the hillside. This is pretty standard fare for an Irish-themed slot, but it seems to lack some of the traditional Play’n GO sparkle that we’ve come to expect.
The graphics are bold and colourful, but the animations are few and far between. There’s nothing to complain about, but there’s not a lot to get excited about either – there’s nothing here that we haven’t seen a hundred times before.
Gameplay
Alongside the reels you’ll see multiplier values ranging from 1x – 10x which activate randomly throughout the base game. Spin up a leprechaun Wild in combination with one or more cash symbols and the cash values are added to your balance – with the current multiplier value applied.
You’ll need to land at least 3, 4 or 5 dynamite Scatters to activate the bonus feature round, which awards 10, 15 or 20 free spins respectively. Throughout the feature, the multiplier values increase up to 30x, so this is where the biggest wins are likely to be found.
During the bonus round, every Wild adds a diamond to the mining carts above the reels. Once you’ve collected four diamonds the multipliers increase, 10 extra free spins are awarded and an extra row is added to the reels, together with 5 additional paylines.
Win Potential
Low-value playing card symbols are joined on the reels by yellow, blue, green and red gemstones, which pay up to 200x your stake for five-of-a-kind matches. But it’s the Wild cash collection feature that you’ll be looking out for, as it offers some big potential payouts when those random multipliers hit the higher numbers!
The top payout in Shamrock Miner is worth 5,000x your stake, which isn’t the biggest prize payout by any means, but it’s certainly not something we’d want to turn down!
Our Verdict
We absolutely love Play’n GO! This is a developer that’s turned out so many excellent titles that it’s difficult to find fault with the studio, but we have to admit to feeling a little disappointed with Shamrock Miner. It’s a good-looking slot with some appealing features, but it just seems to lack that special something that Play’n GO games usually offer.
There’s none of the jaunty fun of Leprechaun’s Vault, but to be fair, we didn’t have the best of experiences during the free spins bonus – we triggered it three times in succession and didn’t manage to fill one single mining cart, so we never activated any additional rows. But that’s online slots for you, and there’s every chance that your experience will be completely different – why not give the game a spin to see how it pans out for you?
