Pizza Pizza Pizza Review
Pizza may not seem to have much to do with fishing, but fans of Pragmatic Play slots are likely to recognise some of the features of Pizza Pizza Pizza.
The cash symbol collection during the free spins bonus round is lifted almost directly from Big Bass Bonanza, with some serious prize-winning potential for a few lucky players.
Design
There’s no attempt at photo-realistic graphics in this game, but nobody could fail to recognise the triangular shape of a delicious slice of pizza, complete with an array of toppings. It’s an unusual layout, which requires players to match symbols on adjacent reels from the bottom up when playing in landscape mode, or from left to right in portrait mode.
The gameplay is accompanied by a lively soundtrack which some players may find a little irritating after a while. It adds to the general fun, but you might be grateful for the mute button if you’re playing for a longer session!
Gameplay
There’s nothing much to watch out for during base gameplay, as the Wilds don’t appear until the free spins bonus round. You’ll need to land at least three Scatters to activate it, which awards up to 20 free spins.
This is where Wilds and Golden Wilds appear, ready and waiting to collect the prize values attached to any chilli peppers that appear on the reels. Wilds are collected, with every 4th one adding 10 extra free spins and increasing the free spins multiplier. The multiplier is 2x after the first retrigger, rising to 3x for the second and 10x for the third and final retrigger.
Land a Golden Wild and the game grid increases to 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, with the Golden Wild collecting any chilli pepper values in view – although other symbol wins in the expanded area don’t count. If you’re not lucky enough to spin up the feature organically, you can increase your chances by activating the Ante-bet feature, which increases your wager by 50% while adding additional Scatters to the reels.
Win Potential
Playing card icons made out of cheese represent the low-value symbols, with chilli peppers, mushrooms, olives, rocket leaves and salami paying out better returns. But you’ll need to land at least three Scatters and trigger the free spins bonus round to access the best returns in Pizza Pizza Pizza.
Wilds and Golden Wilds take the form of delivery vans during the bonus round, collecting cash prizes, awarding multipliers and activating even more free spins. This is where you’ll find the big money payouts in the game, including the top payout worth 7,200x your bet.
Although it’s not a feature that’s available to UK players, some jurisdictions allow you to phone in your order for free spins if you’re prepared to pay 100x your bet. It’s worth exploring this option in demo mode, if you can, as you’re not guaranteed to recover the cost of triggering the bonus.
Our Verdict
We’re big fans of food-themed games here at Slot Gods, especially when they’re packing as much potential heat as Pizza Pizza Pizza! Those chilli peppers and their prize awards can help to put together some tempting payouts during the free spins bonus, and they’re completely calorie-free too – what’s not to love about that?
The volatility of this game is pretty high though, and it can take what seems like forever to activate the bonus feature. But if you have the patience – and the bankroll – to stay the distance, there could definitely be some tempting treats in store!
