The best of the bunch is this bonus feature which comes your way if you land five scatter symbols. You only have 10 free spins but marlin symbols are now guaranteed to present cash values of at least 5x. You also get one marlin symbol and one fisherman with every spin.
With marlin offering instant cash prizes worth up to 1,000x and fishermen that can multiply these values, you soon see that the max 7,500x win probably isn't beyond reach. I only picked up a few of these additional catches during the base game with payouts worth between 10 and 20x each time.
The results were much better as I moved into the standard bonus game and the fishermen started to get some decent bites. I walked away slightly up and thanks to the medium/high volatility, there was a good blend of regular wins and the occasional notable compensation.
Even Hacksaw has struggled to make the fishing genre exciting and their take on the theme is simply a set of reels stuck to the front of a fishing boat with some fishing rods on either side. The animation and soundtrack are on par with many other slots but don't expect anything out of the ordinary when you load this up on your laptop or mobile.
The base game failed to light a fire in my belly and even though the instant rewards were tantalizingly close, they didn't offer much excitement even when they landed. The bonus game simply reminded me of Big Bass Bonanza and I'm not sure the same setup needs to be repeated by every developer. It’s time to move on!
