Lucky Lift seems to present two very similar features and two distinct ways of triggering them. You'll never know when but occasionally, the elevator doors open and take you step by step to bigger and better prizes and you'll find a guaranteed prize range on the top floor. If you ignore the lift for a second, you'll see that there are some regular occurrences taking place in this game. That's just as well as the second part of the show is a little strange.
Across 26 paylines, you can pick up wins courtesy of low-paying and high-paying symbols. The lowest values are delivered by the royal symbols and a five-of-a-kind here will only produce 0.8x.
Fruit machine symbols increase the payout potential until you reach the sevens where a five-of-a-kind lands 1.8x.
There are lots of wild multipliers available but they aren't going to help you during the base game. As you spin these reels, you'll see that there’s an extra reel running horizontally to the top of the game area. This is known as the Prize Stream and it moves occasionally. To see these additional icons come down onto the game area, you need the slot to decide that you're worthy of viewing the Lucky Lift feature.
Triggering this feature not only brings down some special symbols but also means you can go for a ride in the lift! First, you pick up your multipliers from above and any free rides which give you an extra spin. It means that you move up a level as long as one or more 2x multipliers appear.
Alternatively, a Free Ride symbol can land or drop down from the real above and have the same effect. Multipliers are worth between 2x and 5x and these apply to your wins as they act as a wild symbol and can help create payouts.
The Lucky Lift bonus occurs when three scatter symbols land anywhere on the game board and you now find that the grid is populated with credit values. You get three bonus spins and each time, you'll pick up multipliers, upgrades and others.
Multipliers activate the credit values and bonus upgrades increase your bonus multiplier – it can go up to 5x. Row symbols activate credit values for the rows and column symbols activate credit values for the columns, so no surprises there then. Free Ride symbols get you more bonus spins and the prize range can be upgraded for the top floor as well.
This feature can appear randomly during a base game spin and you'll see any multipliers on the top reel come down into play. Free rides are awarded and each one gives you an additional spin and moves the lift up. Multipliers join in and increase your payouts and if you get to the top floor, you get a guaranteed prize range.
Three bonus symbols trigger this feature and you'll now see various credit values worth up to 7.5x. Awards include upgrades, multipliers and free rides, which again move you up to the top floor where you could pick up a guaranteed prize worth up to 75x.
With the lack of multiplying wild symbols during the base game, it can be a little challenging to pick up a big win. However, I did see payouts of over 10x dropping in occasionally. Triggering either of the bonus games will improve the situation and hopefully, you'll start to see those 5x wilds appear and push you up towards the top level. The final payout can be pretty decent on a good day. There’s a top win of 16,000x to play for and the volatility sits around the medium mark.
The garish lights and sounds of Lucky Lift won't be for everybody but they do give off a hint of luxury and glitz while you spin. It feels like a game show at heart and as the lift starts to move, you feel like you're getting involved while waiting for the next stage to unfold. It's a little overly complicated for smaller mobile screens to cope with but it is still possible.
It's nice to see something a bit different, especially from a Games Global studio and you can't knock Crazy Tooth for that. The idea of moving up through the levels to potentially hit a guaranteed prize at the top is exciting, but it would be nice if it was easier to trigger the feature. It might be possible for players outside the UK to buy directly in, so maybe it's better suited to them. All in all, it’s not a bad effort and it’s certainly quite unique.
