Fireborn Review
Game of Thrones really did a number on us and our obsession with fire-breathing creatures just will not relent. Anyone who is a fan of this theme will love the various dragon forms that appear and the Free Spins Bonus that comes as a result of landing those precious dragon eggs. It is a wild ride and the payouts could be phenomenal.
Design
Fireborn takes place in an icy landscape with a fairytale castle nestled into the side of a mountain. There is a mist forming below the reels and it drifts gently upwards throughout the game. It is a pleasant enough setup that shouldn't offend any gaming enthusiasts. It isn't Hacksaw Gaming's regular style and that’s because it was created by Backseat Gaming—presumably being distributed through this larger producer.
You are treated to some nice animations as the dragons land and begin to breathe their fire and send out fireballs all over the place, so look out for those as you play.
Gameplay
Allowing a couple of the dragons to perform their Wild and Multiplier modifiers is a nice touch as it keeps the base game moving freely. However, it is the introduction of the Gold and Green Dragons that really starts to offer a boost to your balance. Hope for as many Scatter symbols as possible to maximise your winning potential in the latter stages of this bonus.
Win Potential
The max win comes in at 15,000x and with a large range of stakes available, this could produce quite some payout. The volatility is understandably high and the RTP is 96.18%—this rises slightly if you are outside the UK and decide to use the Buy Bonus option at a cost of 200x.
My Verdict
I am more a fan of the win potential that Fireborn offers rather than anything else. It is a nice enough game and it keeps you interested with all of the animated elements and exciting classical score that leads you through the bonus game. However, your focus is mainly on the dragons and the wins that they can produce rather than any kind of exciting variation to the gameplay. If you are a huge fan of this theme, then it will probably give you everything you want and if you love massive payout potential, then you're probably not interested in the frozen lake and beautiful castle anyway!
Paul spent plenty of time in arcades up and down the UK discovering all of the best fruit machines and watching them grow into the incredible online slots we see today. He still loves the basic format but also has a soft spot for games with big bonus rounds that progress as you play. Immortal Romance is one of his favourite slots of all time.
