The game’s grid is 5x3. Interestingly, though, each position is actually its own independent reel. To win, players need to land matching symbols along the grid’s 30 different paylines, starting from the leftmost reel.
9 to Ace are the low-pay symbols. 5-of-a-kinds made up of these range between 1x and 1.4x the stake in value. The high pays are the traditional Mexican objects—sombrero, guitar, maracas, tequila. Hit a 5-of-a-kind and you can win up to 10x the bet. The game also has cash symbols, which are worth between 0.4x and 2.4x. To benefit from them, you’ll need a Collector symbol to land on the grid’s central position.
The Symbol Upgrade feature can randomly trigger in both the base game and Free Spins. Low-pay symbols can be upgraded to Cash, Jackpot or Collector symbols. In Free Spins, blank symbols can be upgraded to Jackpot or Extra Spins symbols.

The object of the round itself is to land cash symbols and jackpot symbols. Normal pay symbols don’t appear, and our skeletal Collector symbol is ever-present. I like how you can build up the number of free spins and the value of the multiplier in the base game. The Symbol Upgrade Feature is a nice addition, but I wasn’t able to benefit from it that often - certainly not compared to the rest of the game’s special features.
