Collapsed Castle Review
The Collapsed Castle slot from Evoplay is a beautifully designed, magical adventure game with cascading reels, wonderfully animated symbols and an ethereal soundtrack. When you open the game, you'll be greeted with the ruins of an old castle, with a deep, dark black gateway where the cascading symbols fall.
As you play, you'll see the colourful, detailed symbols come to life, as you try to vanquish the castle and take home some of its hidden treasure.
Design
The team at Evoplay have done a great job in designing this slot. The detailing on the symbols is intricate, colourful and vibrant. And the ruins that surround the reels, along with the icy blue backdrop, all add to the Lord of the Rings-esque feel of this game.
But if we're completely honest, aside from the pretty animations, this game borders on being slightly forgettable. If you're after an action-packed, rip-roaring gods/goblins/wizards battle-type escapade, then you're going to be left very disappointed with this slot.
But if you're more into elves, magic and all-around fairy-tale vibes, then this game could be right up your street. Overall, the design is pretty, but also pretty….lacklustre.
Gameplay
Collapsed Castle has a lot of cool special features that should make this game dynamic and exciting to play. But again, take away the fancy animations and sweet-sounding soundtrack and you're left with a mediocre game that plods along quite happily, without ever getting into the realms of excitement.
The collapsing symbols are a nice touch, and the 3x4x4x4x3 grid formation will stick out in your mind as quite a unique feature. Plus, with wild, scatters and the Win Multiplier all injecting a bit of va-va-voom into the base game, players who enjoy a visually pleasing slot may very well like this title. But those looking for fast-paced action will have to look elsewhere to scratch that itch.
One thing we particularly like about this game is the Magician Multipliers. Rather than multiplying your win, as is standard practice, they add set values to your existing wins. This is rather unusual, and quite a nice additional feature by Evoplay. And of course, you have the Win Multiplier as well, which could see you multiply your overall winnings by 3x.
But even with all these special functions and a free spins round, Collapsed Castle still falls short of being the adventurous slot we were hoping for. And why Evoplay hasn’t added an additional bonus game is anyone’s guess!
Win Potential
When it comes to your chances of winning, Collapsed Castle offers some pretty decent prizes, along with medium volatility, which should make wins come along semi-frequently and in very decent amounts. And with multipliers, free spins and a top prize of 3,000x, this game suddenly becomes a lot more appealing!
However, with a below-average RTP of 95.94%, Collapsed Castle manages to just fall short of expectations once again. But if you’re willing to play this low-energy, low-excitement slot for quite a while, you could well take home a good amount of winnings…if you can keep your eyes open long enough.
Our Verdict
The Collapsed Castle game by Evoplay has its pros and its cons. There's no doubt that a lot of thought and detail has gone into the design and animation of this slot. But behind the beautiful symbols and elegant animations lies a pretty dull game.
This is such a shame, given the number of special features in this title, and while some players will be content with the very relaxed and serene pace of Collapsed Castle, we were left wanting more from this Evoplay title.
Perhaps we were expecting too much from a fairy-tale/mythical slot game. And maybe it was too much to ask for a giant ogre to come in halfway through the game and smash the reels to pieces with a giant axe. Who knows?
All in all, this is a sweet slot with some decent winning potential. But if you want action/adventure, warring kingdoms, knights and dragons etc, you’re better off watching an old rerun of Game of Thrones.
Alyx has always loved slots and continuously follows their progress and development. She’s a big fan of gridded slots and music themes as well, so it makes sense that Def Leppard Hysteria is her absolute favourite. She can’t wait to see what’s next in the Play’n GO rock series.
