I'm not quite sure what I was expecting when I saw Krampus appear on my list of slots to review. It's not a typically happy Christmas story and doesn't usually go hand in hand with feelings of joy. What we have is something similar to the Grinch that seems to have had a change of heart and instead of trashing Christmas just for the hell of it, things have been put right and karma has been restored. Christmas present values are stolen but they head straight back to the player to help build up their Christmas coffers.
But first, here is a quick rundown of the standard winning action.
There are 10 pay lines on which you can land a prize and the regular payouts come courtesy of 5 royal symbols and 6 higher-paying symbols. Top of the Christmas tree is the game's Logo symbol with a 50x payout for five of a kind. Among those symbols are some Christmas presents and these serve 2 purposes. As a standard icon, 20x is the max payout for a group of 5. However, making your way to the Free Spins Bonus, you'll see the additional prize values stamped on these presents come into play.

Light & Wonder could have gone really dark with this production but in general, it has been left fairly light-hearted and the only mention of Krampus is during the Free Spins game when you start collecting Christmas presents. The music is a little monotonous and the overall design isn't anything to shout about. That said, it does its job just fine.
There are regular Wild symbols to enjoy during the Base game and these are replaced by the special Krampus Wild symbols throughout the Free Spins Bonus. This has helped to keep the main part of the production feeling quite lively but watching those Christmas present values appear with no chance of collecting them does make the Base game quite frustrating!
It will come as no surprise that the max win is only 500x. That is standard with games like this and the idea is that you will see more action, more often. The RTP is a little low at 94.07%, compared to the original Christmas Krampus game, but this will be because you’re getting more access to the good stuff! The volatility is around the medium mark.
