The mythical Scandinavian action takes place on a 5x5 gaming grid and as Viking Runecraft 100 is a Grid Slot, to win, all you need to do is land 3 or more matching symbols next to each other, horizontally or vertically. None of that rigid payline stuff here.
If you land a 5-of-a-kind made up of the low-pay symbols—axes, anchors, helmets and hammers—you can expect to pocket up to 3x the bet. The high-pay symbols come in the form of three different gods: Thor, Freya and Heimdall.
If you land a 5-of-a-kind made up of a combination of different Norse gods, you can win up to 5x the bet, whereas if you hit a 5-of-a-kind made up of exclusively 1 of them, you can win up to 10x! On top of that, after each individual win, the Multiplier increases by +1, and will continue to do so until your wins cease.
Wilds can substitute for any of the regular pay symbols, but they only drop once you’ve already hit a win. That said, they can also be brought about by the God Powers.
If you spin and nothing lands, fear not, as the God Power feature might get activated. It consists of granting you 1 of 3 features. The Thunder feature transforms 1 type of symbol into another one. The Magic feature adds up to 2 Wilds to the board. Finally, the Vision feature removes 2 symbol types from the grid, thereby allowing more symbols to drop.
If you succeed in landing winning combinations made up of God symbols, you’ll fill the meter to the left of the game area, which has three sections. Land a winning combo of 3 God symbols and you’ll fill 1 section, 4 God symbols will fill 2 sections and 5 Gods will fill all three. Once these 3 sections have been filled, the Ragnarök feature is triggered. The three gods now perform their respective powers and if you manage to clear the game area, you’ll pass to the Free Spins round.
When you enter the Free Spins Bonus, you’ll be given a choice of how many spins you want and how volatile you wish the round to be. Heimdall is the least volatile of the three and if you choose him, you’ll get 8 free spins. Freya is a little more tempestuous, so you’ll only get 5 free spins with her. The slot’s main strength is its gameplay and it felt like there were plenty of hits during the base game, especially with the Multipliers and the God Power features.
