You’ve got 20 paylines on which to land winning combinations and those winning combinations always start from the reel furthest to the left. 10 to Ace are the lower-value symbols, with a 5-of-a-kind pocketing you a maximum of 0.4x. The higher-paying symbols are the mythical creatures of varying colours, not to mention the Wilds and Syn himself. Land 5 of these matching symbols on a payline and you can win between 1.25x to 5x the bet. The Wild also substitutes for all other pay symbols.
Also, keep in mind that Syn’s generosity is equalled only by his narcissism as he has the power to randomly transform other character symbols into the most valuable one—him. The game’s epic music fittingly evokes the myths and legends of ancient empires, such as those of Greece, Rome and of course Persia—I was half expecting to see flying carpets shooting around. Nevertheless, the game is brightly coloured, well set out and very easy to follow.
The base game is quite engaging. While playing, I enjoyed capitalising on the Symbol Upgrade feature, for example. Using the Power-Up round to establish the parameters of the Free Spins round is a really nice touch, too. That said, you might have to spin a few times before you gain access to it.
The game’s volatility is only medium and the RTP of 96.21% is as generous as you might expect. I’d say the max win of 3,000x isn’t too bad considering how often winning combinations seemed to land while I was playing.
Tales of Mithrune Syn’s Fortune will definitely appeal to fans of the series, as it can easily be considered an upgrade to Play’n GO’s previous instalment. It’ll also be of interest to anyone who’s looking for a rather simple slot that's well-presented and has decent gameplay.
