Rise of Atlantis Review
Rise of Atlantis is a colourful and energetic take on a familiar theme. There are scores of similar slots doing the rounds, and you shouldn't expect to see anything completely out of the ordinary with this version.
That said, there are a couple of interesting additions with rising multipliers and their increasing values during the free spins round. Scatter pays make it possible to land a win with at least 8 identical symbols in view and this can also help increase your chances of hitting a decent prize.
As far as the game design goes, there is nothing particularly different about this slot. We've seen the underwater niche meet Greek-like gods several times. And it does, unfortunately, feel a little 'samey'. Poseidon bobs around menacingly to the left of the reels and comes to life occasionally when providing the rising multipliers.
The only other animation to speak of is the bubbles that float gently by in the background. The game's soundtrack is a classical score that gently simmers until the free spins round is unleashed. At this point, it builds in strength and adds a little more vivacity to the scene.
It is easy to see why Blueprint Gaming decided to go with a rehashed version of this familiar scenario. It's very popular and the possibilities are endless. But we do feel that they could have gone a little further to add more alternative entertainment during the base game. It's a high volatility title; therefore, the free spins won't appear all that often. And this can make the base game quite a long and drawn-out process.
Players outside the UK will enjoy the option to buy the bonus but other than that, it is a waiting game. In some territories, it's also possible to increase the chance of landing bonus symbols by paying a little extra with each spin.
Some high-volatility games will reach max payouts in excess of 20,000x. But Rise of Atlantis sinks well below at 10,000x. And unless you raise the wager limits, you won't see huge potential payouts like you can on some other titles.
The RTP sits neatly at 96%, so there's nothing fishy going on there. You will need plenty of patience if you opt to play this game, but the rewards could be fairly substantial if you come along at the right time.
It's a nice effort from Blueprint Gaming. The graphics and soundtrack are well thought out and produced with a high level of detail. But is it the best mythical-themed slot available right now? We might not think so but it is a matter of opinion, and there is every chance that you will love it.
