Guide to Megaclusters slots
What are Megaclusters slots and how do they work?
If you've kept your finger on the pulse of the iGaming world then you may well have noticed the launch of a brand new online slot mechanic in 2020 known as Megaclusters.
This groundbreaking new online slot mechanic follows in the footsteps of its predecessor Megaways, and is dramatically different to anything you might well have come across before.
We here at Slot Gods know how intimidating getting to grips with new online slots can be, so we've taken the time to write this guide to Megaclusters slots to answer any questions you might have.
Who Created Megaclusters slots?
Megaclusters slots were created by Big Time Gaming, an Australian studio that has grown to become one of the world's most well respected online slot developers.
Big Time Gaming is known worldwide for creating the iconic Megaways mechanic that's used in hundreds of the best online slots players can find at all their favourite slot sites.
There's a lot of hope amongst online slot enthusiasts such as ourselves that Megaclusters lives up to the hype, and that it's embraced just as well as the Megaways mechanic was by the slot community back in 2016 when they were first released.
Whether or not this becomes a reality yet remains to be seen, but with Big Time Gaming falling into the hands of Evolution, it seems the future could well be bright.
How do Megaclusters slots work?
Megaclusters slots are incredibly similar to cluster pays slots in both the way the game is designed and the way that winning combinations are formed. In a standard cluster pays slot winning combinations are formed when a number of matching symbols (usually 5 or more) land on the game grid together at the same time, these are then removed and new symbols come into play.
In a Megaclusters slot exactly the same logic applies, however, when a winning cluster lands on the grid winning symbols then break down into smaller symbols.
In breaking down symbols into smaller ones the overall game grid grows in size to accommodate them, thus unlocking an increased number of ways to win for the next spin, if the spin is successful then the symbols will break down even further, if the spin is unsuccessful then the slot resets back to its original state.
On the face of things, Megaclusters look quite daunting and somewhat confusing, but in reality, the format is actually pretty simple, especially in the early stages of the game! Watching the grid grow following each successful spin, it's very easy to visualise more and more ways to win opening up.
What bonus features do Megaclusters slots have?
Like Megaways slots, these games come jam-packed with innovative bonus features and mechanics aside from the obvious Megaclusters function.
Two of three original Megaclusters releases rely heavily on special wild symbols that can substitute for all symbols on the game grid. Some of these wild symbols roam around the grid on each and every spin, others come with increasing multipliers.
Naturally, a free spins feature appears in all of the Megaclusters slots! These free spins are played on a larger game grid than normal and can be re-triggered. It's this feature that allows players to win the maximum amount of cash each slot pays out.
