Fruity Burst 2 Review
Fruity Burst 2 is a simple concept with a couple of sweet added extras. Cascading reels and grid slots are becoming incredibly popular with the cute animated fruits lending themselves perfectly to this style of gaming.
The low volatility means that you'll see regular wins landing and this helps to hold your attention. Depending on how many fruits form the cluster, the multipliers can go through the roof.
Design
To say that this game is bright and colourful is an understatement. The animated fruit symbols are designed to perfection and you actually form a bit of an affinity for those guys. Every time you land a cluster win, the fruit symbols will explode and others drop down into their place. This might make you feel a little sad as their smiling faces are obliterated across the screen.
The grid is set into a large fruit box, which in turn is sat on a fruit stall. And one of the nicest parts of this game is the grouchy old fruit seller standing there coughing, spluttering and gesticulating as you go.
It's almost as if it feels like you're ripping him off and popping the fruit in your pocket without paying. It's a cute setup that will make you smile— so hats off to Eyecon for the visual display.
There isn't so much of a soundtrack to speak of, rather some background noise instead. You'll hear some birds tweeting but that's about it. As you spin the reels, you'll get lots of splashing sound effects.
And when the fruits burst it sounds pretty gross but at least you're getting a payout! You also get to hear the fruits squeal with delight after they create a win and eagerly await their fate.
Gameplay
There's nothing too taxing about the gameplay. You simply need to decide how much you wish to wager and watch the good times roll—hopefully! The free spins feature is obviously where everyone wants to be. And thanks to the large 6x6 grid, there's a good chance that you will see the symbols rolling in fairly frequently.
The expanding reels during the free games are a genius addition. It means that you continue to see free spins and watch the grid expand with more and more winning potential at every turn.
Without having a fixed number of free spins it's possible to keep going and going until you finally land a win on the 8x8 grid. This format keeps the tension building as you never know when the party might come to an end.
Win Potential
Fruity Burst 2 has fairly low volatility. This is great news if you love to see plenty of wins come your way. But not so great if you want to see huge wins hitting the reels. Big wins do happen but they will be few and far between.
Given the expanding grid possibility, there's a chance that you can see 64 symbols all land in one go. But don't hold your breath! The highest paying standard symbol is the nervous and sweaty-looking tomato that can give a huge 10,000 x stake when 9 or more of them land in a cluster.
The other fruits all have their own values ranging from 0.4x stake for 5 strangely sultry-looking oranges to 5,000x wins for 16+ strawberries.
Our Verdict
There are many classic fruit-based slots around at the moment. And never a week goes by when we don't see another addition to the niche. So it's always fantastic when a game provider such as Eyecon mixes things up a little.
However, it is still a simple premise and there's only one feature to speak of. It is a nice touch that the power-up balls can help extend the bonus feature. But it would have been nice to see a couple of other hidden games thrown into the mix.
It is a decent product and a lot of players will find plenty of enjoyment here. Wins are regular so the balance won't take too much of a beating along the way. Will it hold your attention for long? Well, that all depends on the style of games that you like.
But if a simple premise with some cute graphic touches does it for you, then you should be more than happy with Fruity Burst 2.
