Some of you must still be loving this series because Blueprint just keeps on churning them out! Admittedly, I've had a lot of fun along the way but will The Big Catch 2 prove to be a trawler too far? It seems like there are a couple of novelties thrown in to freshen things up a bit and that ridiculously large max win is still teasing us from the horizon.
A familiar sight then as you load up this slot with five reels and three rows of pretty regular symbols. There are only 10 win lines and across these, you can pick up payouts worth up to 200x if you grab a group of five pelicans. Only two of these are needed to get a basic 0.50x win.
Any three of the worms and fish symbols will pop 1x in your pot and they can grab you 20x for a five-of-a-kind. The royals are the lowest but even these fetch up to 5x for Jacks, 10s and Queens and 10x for Aces and Kings.
Fish symbols land without any benefit during the base game other than when they head up to the net and potentially trigger the pick-a-fish feature.

You get two choices of base game and one is the regular version mentioned above with the other one being Power Play. You can choose your stake between 0.50x and 125x with all of the regular symbols disappearing.
Blanks, fish, wilds and trawlers arrive with every spin and still have the potential to trigger the Pick a Fish game. You might also get enough trawlers to trigger the bonus game.
The main idea is that the wild symbols turn up at the same time as your fish with their cash values and everything is collected together to create a win.
At least three bonus symbols must land to trigger the free spins game and the major benefit beyond not paying for your spins is watching the cash prizes be collected by the fishermen. Collecting four of these symbols will upgrade the fish and you get an additional 5 free spins.
A special can of worms symbol is active and these will gather in the value of any of the fish symbols before the fishermen get a chance to take them home.
If you don't fancy taking on the regular base game, then simply hit the Power Play button and you'll see the regular symbols disappear. You only have to worry about fishermen collecting in the fish prizes and you might also see enough scatter symbols to trigger the free spins bonus as well.
Three or more scatter symbols trigger the free spins bonus with up to 20 games as a reward. Wild symbols collect in the cash values and for every four of these that land, you upgrade the fish prizes. A special can of worms can drag in the fish prizes before the wild symbols collect them as well.
It is hard not to be blinded by the 50,000x top payout and on any other occasion, I'd say it's a bit of a pipe dream to expect to see enough fish to get you there. However, the prize upgrades in this bonus game might just surprise some players. With enough wild symbols, you'll pick up lots of instant prizes and eventually, the standard fish might transform into something quite spectacular.
The base game didn't really do it for me and apart from the Pick a Fish feature, which triggered the free spins bonus for me by the way, there wasn't an awful lot to get excited about. I still picked up wins worth over 30x occasionally, but it’s very tempting to go straight to Power Play and aim higher. The volatility is medium/high.
This series of slots has refused to change since we first laid eyes on it about a decade ago. It was quite basic to watch back then and it feels just as rudimentary now! The added extras make the gameplay stand out from its predecessors but the graphics are just as tired and grainy as they were before.
Along with some other famous fishing-themed slots that manifest into a series, you sometimes get the impression that Fishin’ Frenzy is starting to run aground.
