Oscar Wilde said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but I'm not sure if Pragmatic Play would agree. This game bears a heavy resemblance to Big Bass Bonanza but there are a couple of very obvious differences to help set it apart.
The five reels offer wins across 20 paylines and you can pick up your payouts thanks to royal symbols and pictures. The royals get you up to 1x for a 5-of-a-kind win, so don't expect to see your balance grow while these are in view.
The four picture symbols pay up to 5x and there's a wild symbol that substitutes for other regular payers and will also get you a 10x win for a 5-of-a-kind. Fisherman symbols are usually the most valuable in fishing games as they have the power to manipulate the payouts somewhat.
In this creation, each time a fisherman symbol lands, he'll whack the treasure chest at the top of the reel. This may or may not trigger one of the bonus games. If you see five of these landing anywhere on the reels at any time, you pick up the max win of 6,000x!
If the fisherman triggers one or more of the bonus modifiers, you'll play 10 bonus spins, but you might see a combination of several. As the bonus game begins, fish symbols are added to the reels and these have values worth up to 1,000x your bet.
Trigger the game from reel 1 and you get a multiplier enhancement which starts on x2 and upgrades by one every time a special symbol lands. The multipliers will increase the value of fish symbols as the fisherman collects them.

The third modifier comes from reel 4 with symbol upgrades and starting from the 10 symbol, they get pushed up to produce bigger wins. Reel 5 brings a respin and a heart symbol is awarded whenever a respin chest is triggered. When fisherman symbols land on the reels, the fisherman symbol and fish along with upgrade symbols will stick in place. Your respin ends when any new fish or upgrade symbols fail to land while the original ones are respinning.

My wins were fairly respectable and they managed to keep my balance just above water. Moving into the bonus game, you see the fish symbols turn up and now these can be collected to bring bigger wins. The two parts of the creation are worlds apart and the rewards eclipse those of the base game.
Games Global has taken several elements from Big Bass Bonanza and added them to this slot. The reels are separated by bubbles and even the wild symbol looks familiar. As expected, the game area is set underwater and you've got the five coloured chests sitting on top – just below the surface. A few fish swim past at the bottom of the lake and you get a relaxing soundtrack to help things bob along just nicely.
I would have been disappointed if Big Fish Festival had simply gone along with its muse and provided a bonus game with extra spins and multipliers when you collect scatter symbols. Even though it’s not obvious given the name, this slot mixes things up a little with the modifiers and stops it from feeling like a ripoff. It feels like a nice change from some of the other fishing slots out there and I'd recommend giving it to go.
