The main 5x3 grid has 20 paylines. To win, you just need to land matching symbols along said paylines, starting from the leftmost reel. The lower-value symbols are Jack to Ace, with a 5-of-a-kind being worth up to 1.2x the bet. The fishing paraphernalia symbols are the high pays. Hit a 5-of-a-kind made up of 1 of these and you can win up to 5x.
The Wilds substitute for all of these pay symbols. They also function as pay symbols themselves and are worth just as much as the most valuable high pay.
If you fill one of the positions of the TopHit reel, which sits above the main game area, all instances of that symbol will become a Wild. If multiples of the same high pay appear on the TopHit reel, each of the ensuing Wilds will carry a multiplier of up to 5x! The more copies that land, the higher the multiplier.
If a Nudge symbol lands on the rightmost reel, all partially visible symbols on the TopHit reel will be nudged until they’re fully visible.

In the base game, you can increase your chances of landing fisherman symbols and triggering free spins by turning on the Golden Bet function. This will increase the cost of your bet by 50% while the values on the paytable remain the same as before.

I didn’t have the greatest experience playing the round itself, as I wasn’t able to benefit much from the TopHit Wilds. And again, I didn’t see the Fisherman so I wasn't able to pocket the Cash Fish. That being said, I wasn’t playing for that long before I was able to trigger the round.
The more scatters you land, the more free spins you win. 3 to 10 scatters awards 8 to 20 free spins. Instances of any full symbols landed in TopHot will persist as Wilds until the end of the round.

Given all the different features on offer, the game has lots of win potential. However, you have to bear in mind that the game is highly volatile. I guess this is why I seldom benefited from said features – it happens.
I did see a lot of Wilds, and those in conjunction with the high value of the paytable meant I saw some decent wins in the base game. I was quickly able to trigger Free Spins, but my return was underwhelming, as I wasn’t lucky enough to trigger its more fruitful features.
The action takes place in the middle of what looks like a lake or a river. At the sides of the screen, you can see rocks and pine trees, and it looks like it’s a nice hot day.
The artwork is very basic, as are the graphics. The colour scheme is odd in that although we’re looking at normal, everyday things, everything looks luminous as if someone has turned up the contrast and colour settings too high on the telly.

Although you could argue it’s appropriate given the theme of the game, when the reels aren’t spinning, it sounds like you’re listening to the music while underwater. The style of the music itself consists of an ukulele with an electric guitar playing over the top. Even when you are spinning, the volume of the sound effects drowns out the music, which can be annoying.
Audiovisually, Big Game Fishing TopHit is a little underwhelming but thanks to the features, it has got a lot of win potential, though. Just remember that it is highly volatile and that the RTP is quite low. However, if Lady Luck is on your side, you could see some massive wins.
