Anubis Gold Review
Like most Egyptian slots, Anubis Gold is all about an Egyptian god and trying to secure his wealth. Travel back to Ancient Egypt and journey to the tomb of Anubis to find amazing treasure.
Inspired Entertainment's Anubis Gold plays on 5-reels with 10 paylines and is all about securing the free spins round. Once this happens, players can upgrade symbols and expanding wilds leading to the mighty treasures of Egypt.
Design
The background of the slot is a static image with hieroglyphics surrounding the walls. It's clear that the slot starts in a tomb but sadly there is nothing interesting going on as there are no animations or anything unique going on throughout gameplay.
Ultimately, the background does change during free spins but just takes players outside in front of the tomb flames. Still, there is no animation and the slot feels a bit lifeless at times.
All the symbols relate to Egypt but it's nothing we've not seen before. Sadly, the only music throughout is during free spins with a generic Egyptian score. There is nothing during the base game aside from annoying techno sounds of the reels spinning. This certainly feels like a slot created for players in the early 2000s, not the modern day.
Gameplay
In terms of the gameplay, there is nothing fresh or new going in this slot. During the base game, there are expanding wilds - but that's about it. In free spins, there are expanding wilds and upgrading symbols but nothing else.
All the buttons for Anubis Gold can be found surrounding the reels. To the left, there is the bet level button and paytable, whilst the right side has the right button to get started with.
Win Potential
If you thought the gameplay and design were bad, then you've seen nothing yet. Firstly, there is an under the average RTP of 94.90% which is low for no reason. There is not a huge win or a jackpot so it's baffling as to why it's low.
As for the maximum win, players will be able to win up to 2,500x the stake in this medium volatility slot. This is, by all means, nothing grand and will put players off combined with the horrible RTP.
Our Verdict
There are many Egyptian slots out there, but this may be the most dated and old-fashioned one that we've played. Firstly, the design feels decades old and the gameplay is a little too basic for our liking.
To make matters worse, the win potential is absolutely abysmal. Why play this slot? The only redeeming quality in this slot is the fun free spins round but it may take a while to trigger it. If you feel like a challenge, then definitely give Anubis Gold a spin.
