Q&A With Ihor Lozinskiy, Senior Game Producer at Push Gaming
We recently spoke to Ihor Lozinskiy, Senior Game Producer at Push Gaming about the forthcoming release of the much anticipated Retro Sweets.
Retro Sweets is your next release, can you tell us more about it and what players should be expecting?
One of last year's hits, Retro Tapes proved to be incredibly popular with players thanks to its colourful aesthetic, easy-to-understand gameplay and big win potential! We built upon these concepts in Retro Sweets which takes some of the core elements that made the original so popular and adds some additional features and fun to appeal to both new and existing fans of the series.
Played across 6x9 reels, the title has a variety of tasty treats and instant cash prizes as its symbols, that must form a cluster of five or more matched adjacent icons to award a win. Any winning clusters formed are removed from play triggering a cascade of new icons to fall onto the gameboard and potentially generate additional wins.
Wilds are also present in the base game which can substitute for all symbols found, making it easier for players to create a winning cluster. Every win those wilds are a part of will increase the multiplier by 1x and with several wilds available, it creates a fun progression loop of wins increasing the value of all subsequent wins, boosting the entertainment on offer!
How do players enter the bonus round in Retro Sweets and what new features have been added to the bonus?
To enter the thrilling free spins round, players will need to land at least three wilds on the gameboard with additional ones granting even more spins. Only instant win coins and feature-triggering symbols can be landed in the bonus, providing an escalation of excitement when compared to the base game.
More spins can be landed on the gameboard providing extra opportunities to generate more clusters of instant win prizes and these are joined by wild multiplier symbols which increase the value of wilds already landed. Instant prize multipliers boost the value of all prizes landed and a sweet collector feature present in both the base game and bonus draws in instant cash prizes and wild symbols to the same area potentially creating large clusters! With so many different features and mechanics working in tandem, the bonus is a thrill from the very first spin.
What additional features have been added to Retro Sweets that players should be aware of?
The feature Push Bet returns in Retro Sweets and allows players to personalise the gameplay experience to best reflect their gambling preferences. By increasing the stake size, players can land one or two guaranteed wilds. This not only allows you to create clusters more easily but results in only one additional wild required to enter the bonus and is a great way of unlocking the free spins round, especially for those playing in jurisdictions without the ability to bonus buy. Action Replay will also be featured in Retro Sweets, allowing players to rewatch any big wins achieved.
Being one of your biggest releases of 2024, what else is upcoming throughout the rest of the year? Any new slots or sequels?
Launching Retro Sweets, a highly anticipated sequel, sets a high bar for other releases we have coming throughout the rest of the year. June will see the launch of Cats of Olympuss, a slot with multiple gameboards in the bonus round and home to wild reels, instant win prizes and some player interaction.
We also have The Grand Show releasing in July along with more hits coming in the latter half of the year, it's an exciting time to be a fan of Push Gaming.
