Wild Chapo 2 Review
We absolutely loved the original Wild Chapo slot, so we were extremely excited at the prospect of trying out this latest addition to the series. But you don’t need to have any experience of the previous game to enjoy all that Wild Chapo 2 has to offer, as it works perfectly well as a standalone game in its own right.
Design
The previous games featuring Wild Chapo take place in the ruins of a bar destroyed by the eponymous anti-hero and his donkey. But it seems that his misdemeanours have finally caught up with him, as Wild Chapo is now behind bars somewhere in the Mexican desert.
His animal companions are on hand to help and hinder him, with the donkey, owl and dog hiding amongst the scenery, popping up from time to time to keep you on your toes.
Once again there’s a Mexican themed backing track to add extra atmosphere. It all looks and sounds a little crazy, but we wouldn’t expect anything less from Relax Gaming!
Gameplay
The bonus features in Wild Chapo 2 are all based on the game’s Wild symbols. They only appear on reels 2-5, so they don’t generate any wins on their own. But they help to fill the gaps in potential winning combos, giving you extra chances to win a cash prize.
Wild Respins
When Wilds contribute to a win, a Wild Respin is activated, with Wilds held in place. Respins continue until no more Wild wins are achieved, but that’s not the end of the story. Every Wild comes with a number from 1-5, representing the number of wins it must feature in before being stored. Once the number reduces to zero, the wild is stored below the reels, ready for the Final Spin.
Expanded Wild Reels
When the Wild Respins feature comes to an end, if there are any stored Wilds the Final Spin is triggered. Now stored Wilds expand upwards to become Wild Reels, potentially creating some big payouts. If more than one Wild is stored below a reel it adds +1 to the Wild Reels multiplier. Where more than one Wild Reel is involved in a win, the multiplier values multiply against each other for even bigger payouts.
Free Spins
You’ll need to land at least 3 Scatter symbols in view to activate the free spins bonus. The number of free spins is awarded according to how many Scatters you land.
- 3 Scatters = 7 free spins
- 4 Scatters = 10 free spins
- 5 Scatters = 15 free spins
- 6 Scatters = 20 free spins
Spinning up a Scatter during the feature awards 1 additional free spin, but once again it’s the Wilds that take centre stage. All Wilds are Sticky throughout the bonus, remaining in place until they qualify to be stored below the reels. At the end of the feature there’s a Final Spin in which Expanded Wild Reels are activated, which can result in a generous award for some lucky players.
Win Potential
At 96.10%, the RTP for Wild Chapo is slightly lower than for the original game, but since the max win potential has been doubled, that’s to be expected. This is a high-volatility game though, so make sure your bankroll can stay the distance by trying out a few demo spins before playing with real money.
Our Verdict
We loved the original Wild Chapo slot, which was swiftly followed by Wild Chapo: Dream Drop, which is the perfect option for fans of Jackpot slots. And now we have Wild Chapo 2, which makes an excellent addition to the collection.
Wild Chapo and his animal companions can always be relied on to spin up a good time on the reels. And with a top payout worth 20,000x the stake on offer, we think this latest version of the game is sure to attract plenty of positive attention from slots fans.
